    Greetings! I'm in the process of taking an extended trip to South America. Specifically Chile, Ecuador and Argentina. $800 US dollars per month is a resonable budget for a retired person like me. I want to perfect my Spanish and enjoy the culture of the countries I mentioned. Was it hard to find a meetup group. Were they able to assist you in finding housing?

      I used the app call “Meetup” and that’s where I found weekly activities to meet people. The group I often go to is 1.) Digital Nomad BA 2.) BA Language Exchange. There’s a lot of groups in Buenos Aires specifically. There’s a Facebook group also called Digital Nomads Buenos Aires. I suggest you join the group. They answer a lot of questions and posts activities as well. Housing option can also be done Facebook searches. But I went to the airbnb route. I hope this helps.

    I've always been interested in Argentina. As an old retired American I would need a small furnished studio - frugal - not to splurge like you - but thrifty ? -- Could one be found cheap near cheap food and good transportation ? Closer to maybe $250 ? USD OfCourse. -- I hear their beef is 2nd to none ! -- Also - are US TV College Football Games on TV possible ? -- There is much to like down there but I'm not very good with Spanish - might need a hand held electronic interpreter / translator ? Help reading menus etc. --- Visa requirements may not be so 'friendly' for retired Americans like Ecuador or Colombia ? -- I only have my $1500 SS check / month with under $10 K savings. --?--

      Hmmmm for that kind of rental I think it is only possible if you have the national ID for Argentina so you can get a long term lease with a local agency or direct to owners. And also for that amount of rent you would be responsible for your own utilities: electricity, water, internet. And also I'm not sure that they will have it in the area of Palermo Soho/Hollywood. But there should be outside the main "expat" areas.
      As for the TV I'm pretty sure the cable channels offer some sort of sports package.
      And I used google translate in most countries and it works well. There's even a direct voice translation now. this would also be an opportunity to learn a few Spanish words.
      And I think if you live within your means, $1500 USD is really more than enough.
      My total budget when I moved to a different apartment ($450/ month including everything: utilities, gym) plus food and expenses was around $850 to $1000 over all.
      I cook at home most of the time and I eat out on the weekends.

      @@gabrielayala1182So, you are saying that the current economic crisis of Argentina and high inflation is because of tourists like me who spend our money in your country? I truly don’t understand your ideas. But maybe you know more than I do.

    • @ljchosen
      @ljchosen  Před rokem +1

      @@gabrielayala1182 Did you know that Tourism (responsible) helps in the economic growth of a country? Take it from the Tourism Secretary of Argentina Lammens: “Tourism led the numbers of job creation and economic growth in the first half of the year, and we’re convinced that… it will be a determining sector for the economic development of the coming years.” Your government is actually promoting tourism to Argentina. They are even offering digital nomad visas to a lot of people. I think you should take your issue (“facts”) to your government.
      Also, how about the RICH people in Argentina that can afford more than the majority? Are you gonna kick them out of the country? Because they can absolutely afford to acquire more than anyone. Even more than me. And that’s a fact!
      Anyway, we can agree to disagree because I will not spend more time explaining. May you have a blessed day 😇❤️

      @@ljchosen dont listen to idiots. Envy runs rampant. Some people are also angry because they dont want to see the potential of this Country. And since they cant leave themselves, they resent those who decide to come.
      But many Argentines who end up leaving realize that they loved this country more. Ir they dont like the cultural change and end up returning

    how u do it visa wise? can only stay for so long, right?

    • @ljchosen
      @ljchosen  Před rokem +2

      As an American I can stay here for 90 days. After that period, you have 2 options, exit the country (ie Uruguay for a weekend) then come back to refresh your 90 days. Or you can just overstay and just pay the fee once you exit the country. They are lenient on overstaying actually. Been in forums about it and no issues. 😇
