Beautifully played. So sorry for your loss, I lost my parents to cancer in 2009 (mom) and 2013 (dad). I still miss them, and when I hear certain pices of music it reminds me of them.

Parents can be critics but they are our best fans. My father also passed this year. He was an organist, and accompanied me many times. He always wondered why I picked trombone for my primary instrument, but he always listened when I played.

Truly sorry for your loss. My father, who passed away about 10 years ago, played trombone in high school and in the Army during WWII. He taught me, and Ive played since i was 8 years old. I still have his 1937 Martin that his parents paid $125 for. I played in university jazz band, and still have the King 3B that i bought from a student for $500. Even though I’m now 75, i still play in our church orchestra on the same King 3B.

That was beautiful Carol. So sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2019 so this made me think of him. Music was something I did for my dad too. Somehow it feels the right thing to do and the most appropriate gesture. Take care x

So sorry for your loss. I hope the fact is not lost on you that you gave your dad the greatest gift a child could give, namely refusing to give up when life was being taken away from you, and when it would have been easier to do so. That determination and love of life had to come from somewhere, and as a dad (of 6) myself, I would absolutely (albeit secretly) take some credit for that strength myself if I had to see one of mine fight through it. Finally, when I think of (quite literally) hours of smiles and entertainment that I've taken from your videos and performances (okay, especially Christmas videos - hey - I'm old) I can only imagine his pride in knowing you could do that for people all over the world. And now he lives on for people all over the world in this beautiful tribute. Beautifully done.

@@CarolJarvisMusic I was just sitting here listening to this again and was going to delete my "Christmas video" comment - it felt so trite in contrast to the playing on the Rachmaninoff - which is just the best I've ever heard you, or as well as I've heard anyone play. I'm not sure I've heard anything played more expressively than that. I've heard folks play a lot more notes in a measure, which is great when that's your thing, but geez. I hope when the time comes one of mine can dedicate anything remotely as delicate or beautiful as that to me. (I fear however that it will be typically Irish - a lot of bad jokes about the old man... pretty much what I expect). Remarkable playing, and a great arrangement.

Sorry, for your loss. Death is ahead for all of us. Hope comes through the death of Jesus. Death is called payment for our sins. Life comes through the resurrection of Jesus. That one day, we too, can be resurrected through the blood of Jesus shed for us. No one is promised a tomorrow, and no one loves you more than God, who created you. May God bless you, and give you grace. I see God's hand in music, and He has given you a great gift!
