I don't know what I enjoy more, how great she plays or watching the joy of playing on her face.
Ellen is Adorable
Absolutely true I truly love match you play and enjoy your fantastic personality on camera you are such a joy to watch. You are adorable ♥️
Why choose, enjoy both! LOL She is hilarious. Even when Hovak teases her, she just laughs it off. Great kid, great father and great relationship they have!
Agree totally!
@@DrBeckyEm
AstroGirl! Dr. Becky?
"I know David. I get that a lot."
Anywhoo, .... Ellen is "Out of this World" Whatever.
Thanks to CZcams, We have the little Genie in a bottle. Did I misspell Genius?
So by the way, in my day, we only had 'Super 8'.
I wonder what happened to all that stuff. I guess the bulb burned out or something.
In any case, Modern parents can buy futuristic 3D gear that can do 180 degree 3D Virtual Reality recordings with a clunky Headset. Oh. Well .. we got Grandkid's. Maybe I should suggest that.
Have a Wonderful day, every non clunky Day! Bye!
She is soooooo good! Wow. And she has best teacher for her...And her laughing makes my heart happy ...Thank you God. Bless your Family
I totally agree 😃
Está tocando muito. Já sou teu fã Gilberto do brasil
I totally agree...I love her videos...she is so cute and a great musician
You‘re welcome. (God here, obviously)
Is he her father?
I've been playing bass for 47 years now, and I enjoy Ellen and her Dad's videos so much. I started playing at 17 and Ellen already plays rings around anything I could do at 17. This beautiful little girl has a very bright musical future ahead of her. Her Dad, who is an excellent musician in his own right, is guiding her beautifully every step of the way.
Hi Mike. Ms Ellen will always be a musician; though may become a Producer or work @ JPL. Time will tell; - Her greatness can not be stopped.
And the great thing about him (Hovak) is that he only provides guidance in the direction that Ellen wants to go. He never forces her to play, or move in a direction of his choosing.
I've also been playing that long . & concur with you , we can't touch Ellen who's been playing for 2 yrs What!?? I think we gotta hang it up. Hah..
@@glennrosa234 I’d rather just continue to play and admire Ellen’s gift. I know you were joking about giving it up anyway. Let’s face it, it’s in our blood and we probably couldn’t stop even if we wanted to. Ellen is a special case and a rare talent ♥️
Not only a star musician she is so personable and isn't camera shy in the least. Enjoy the climb Ellen!
Ellen's Subscriber count is going up fast. Keep an eye on it.
@TheSaintOfSundby Ellen is currently slightly above the Amazing Emily Linge who is about 15
@@davidmacphee3549 Possibly just "exposure". Both are very addictive/can't miss an installment of either.
@@robertakerman3570 I am glad you are subbed to both. We see them grow!
@@robertakerman3570 They are very different but very intelligent young girls. Exposure has a lot of variables with CZcams the Masters. It really is Apple's and Oranges.
However, they have both recently hit the 200K mark and have their YT Awards to proudly Show, and deserve tremendously.
There is no real contest. They are more like Sisters of the World. There is going to be a Snowball effect rolling down the mountain and going up exponentially as more and more people spread the joy these young can bring.
CZcams has many other Young Stars. Todays technology allows them to virtually meet and Jam together and they have made incredible Videos.
Seriously the most adorable bassist, bar none! The progress you’ve made in only a year or so is unreal!
What a great dad and what a great little legend you are, Ellen. There's no better team in music on CZcams at this point. For entertainment value, musicianship, and the feel-good vibe you guys bring, you own this thing! Respect.
I love how she looks at her dad with such admiration and love. You can tell they have a very special relationship. Keep up the great work, Ellen.
Wonder how the channel goes when she hits teenage rebellion years.
@@A_Maggot I think that's when it will get interesting and find its niche, just quietly.
Exploiting one's daughter isn't cool.
Yep her dad is amazing, cool guy, his passion for the music is great. Ellen couldn't get a better bass teacher.
That piece really shows off Ellen's skill level. It's been fun watching her hard work pay off. She's so comfortable playing she can even straighten her hair without missing a beat.
I’ve worked with thousands of bass players over my career doing live sound this young lady is one of the cleanest players I’ve heard . If the bass player is not defining the notes you just can’t get a mix together . The lady already has the future planed I look forward to hearing you on many recording . Amazing
What I love about her is the smile she gives her daddy! They are an awesome team! Every child in the world deserves to have a daddy like hers!!!
She’s becoming a young legend in such a short time, and her dad must be proud to have a daughter like her
Not just her Dad, Her Mom to, And every one around her.
She's going places musically. Next, we will see her either as a session musician for BIG names, or as a replacement band member for a world-wide successful band (possible Metallica, lol).
I simply love her enthusiasm when it comes to her craft. Hovak...you are a great father and mentor to Ellen. I pray I'm still around to see the next chapter in her career.
Well said!!
Amen! You can not teach "want to". Ellen, that is what drove me to learn, and is obviously what keeps you playing.
I remember what those wows felt like when I was your age. I am super happy for you and your family. Music has added greatly to the quality of my life. And I am sure it will to yours.
Great job! Keep it up.
It's not the instruments that makes the magic music, but the music in the player's heart.
She's a force that will dominate the music industry in 5 yrs. Keep it up girl...🤘
ABSOLUTELY 💯 % AGREE!!!
Uh I doubt that
@@FYMASMD Could swear I met you at a party.
@@FYMASMD I'm sure you doubt the world is round too, or something equally as unanimously debunked... 🙄
Ellen always looks like she is having such a blast playing. That makes her so much fun to watch.
The bass sounds good, but Ellen makes it sound magical. I am totally entranced watching her fretwork and her picking. My fingers can't move that quickly just randomly drumming on my desk. Ellen, your playing has gotten so very good, but what makes you even more special is your smile while playing. Never lose that. Cheers from Wisconsin.
That touched me as well. Incredible little angel.
I just bought the Ibanez Mikro earlier this week. It was $199. I wanted either a Mini or a 5 String Bass. I've been playing 2 years on a beginner 4 string Squire. At 65 although I learn quickly my brain to hand coordination isn't as good as younger folks, but I love playing the bass in my church praise team. It's so much fun. Thanks to Ellen and this channel I'm learning so much more. As someone else said, watching Ellen's passion and joy is infectious and wonderful. Thank y'all for all you do!
Getting a set up does huge things for any bass. Being a great bassist like Ellen does even more!
I don't usually comment on youtube vids- even good ones!... But, Ellen, as a fellow musician I was hooked on your videos because of the JOY that shows on your face when you play. Your talent is obvious, even at a young age, but the pure joy you have makes me want to pick up my own ax and play for the pure joy of it! Thank you and keep up the great work!
I bought 2 of these and it took a little bit to modify , changed the bridges and tuners and strings . Now they are perfect . Action and intonation is great up and down the neck . The size fits like a glove for me . $62 for each bass plus another $75 and it’s a go to bass every day . $62 can’t be beat to start !!!!!! I also follow Ellen , I have learned so much from her and her dad . A great teaching duo , and her smile makes it even better .
What amazing talent in this family? Dad shreds guitar and probably plays everything, and Ellen hammers out the bass! Time to put out a CD!
Don't forget her mother. She gave birth, to this little miracle. ❤
I’ve been a singing drummer all my life.
About a year and a half ago, I started playing bass guitar.
I just want you to know, Ellen is an inspiration to me and I’m sure to many.
I’ll say it, Ellen is really cool.
So very cool.
I didn’t know this bass was shorter than the Mikro. I love short scale basses so this one looks fun. Of course Ellen killed it with her playing.
Awesome playing! I'm a piano teacher and it's so hard to find people (children or adults) who can truly feel off beats. You feel the on beats underneath, making it two layers. Little Ellen nails it and never rushes! That's fantastic.
I will agree, that it is the coolest bass for that price range. It is amazing to me that they can sell a bass of that quality for $110.00.
Great video and thank you both for all of the smiles that you have put on my face!!
I absolutely love watching the absolute joy that just pours out of you when you play!!! Keep up the fantastic job young lady!!!
She makes it look easy!! At only 11 years old???? Absolutely incredible, well done Ellen!!
I never thought I'd be inspired by a little kid. Ellen makes me want to get off my butt and work on the stuff I love to do. Painting, biking, and yes, even playing the bass. I'm 58 and Ellen already blows me away. Good job dad, btw, you rock too.
This is absolutely incredible!!!
The journey has been absolutely beautiful!!!
Please keep this going!!!
Kudos to Dad!!! Kudos to Ellen!!!
Thank you for your inspiration and smile (dad too).. You have created a monster unfortunately ( with a smile )- made it to my 70th birthday and been playing for 3 months - I already have FOUR basses!!!! - loving every minute and watching you makes me want to pick up my bass instead of getting ready for work (lol). Keep up the great work
Not only are you a great musician, you have a smile that is infectious. It is so great that you have a father who is on the journey with you.
I really enjoy watching this young lady play and the joy on her face brings a smile to my face! Keep up the good work!😊
Absolutely fantastic. A great guitar played wonderfully by Ellen. What I love about these videos is the total lack of theatrics and sheer joy that Ellen exudes whilst playing.
Amazing job you are doing with her. She's a legend in the making. And I love her smile, it's sery contagious :D
I think I'll get this bass for my 6yo. He loves music so much and already know the musical notes to any song he hears immediately.
Thanks for sharing
Great idea!!
If Ellen and her Dad don't Inspire, motivate and make-you-feel good (you have no soul). They are truly wonderful-together, and she has-become: a little beast on Bass. oNe LovE from NYC
After the loss of my mum before 3 years ago, i had a bad luck and difficulties i had and still have to go through. I really had bad thinkings passing through my tired mind. Today i received a gift as i found Ellen's videos. The bright light that is coming through her beauty, gave me a lesson to realise what a miracle our life is. I have a rare short scale Gibson SG bass. I hope sometime you come in Kefalonia Greece for summer vacation where you can stay in my house where my mum used to live and now it is empty, for free. I will be very happy if i see this amazing beautiful gifted angel playing with my SG bass. It is an open invitation if you like to come for relaxing summer holidays here in Kefalonia. I will fix the bass hoping sometime Ellen come to make it sound again. I will try make a video so you can see it. My best wishes to you Ellen princess and your lovely dad. Congratulations to both of you.
Ellen your a real inspiration, youve reignited my passion for playing bass again!
Love watching your videos, especially if im feeling stressed or down...as your smile and humour has an uplifting effect!we can all learn alot from you!
So, Ellen, now that I found your channel, I am finding myself listening much more to the bass. Thanks, kind of a new world for me!
So much fun watching the two of you!
I have played for years and even built a bass. We just had christmas and I am blown away by this thing! Also, its much more affordable now!
Hi from Brazil, congratulations ! Carlos Roberto, 48 y, musician too.
Awesome! You guys probably paid more for the setup "surgery" than you did for the bass!
Also, I love seeing Ellen grow, both as a person and as a bass player. This is a fun channel. Thank you!
Watching you play is as good as listening, Ellen. I dig how you're dancing in your chair as you jam. You've got to feel what you're playing, and you definitely feel it, because you never stop moving to the music. I love it! Keep it up little lady. You've got a long career ahead of you. 👍👍👍👍
Been watching just a week or so and I love watching Ellen! She's so good and loves what she's doing which is so wonderful! Keep up the great playing, you got me loving the bass sound!
Sweet groove right there Ellen. One thing that is so evident is that dad worked hard on your timing. You totally feel that groove and it's spot on! Keep rockin'! As for the bass, it sounds way better than the price would lead you to believe. Love that bass clef shirt on the doctor!! LOL! Dad almost caught a shot in the face at the end there! Funny story. I got my first guitar from a neighbor who gave it to me on Independence Day. I was holding it sitting next to his father when someone shot off a really loud firework in the back yard. I jumped and the guitar headstock hit the dad in the mouth and chipped his tooth!! That was probably around 1970 when I was around 10 years old! Thanks for popping that memory into my head. Have a great weekend!
Hello Ellen, you amaze me every time I see you and your dad. Keep up the awesome work. Peace and Love to you and your family.
Proud new sub here! I felt the same magic when I 1st picked up a guitar at age 8. Wow Ellen...in the pocket and right on that kick drum. You play funk way beyond your years. Glad I found this channel. Rock on girl! 🤘
What a joy she is to watch... and with a smile that lights up the room.
I started playing bass at about 38 or so, always with a pick; but watching your right hand technique is helping this old guy get some confidence with plucking. Thank you!!
As usual, Great job Ellen! Can't wait to see more great stuff from you. But also - a million Kudos to Glarry! They are doing a tremendous job with their supplier to bring really good, really affordable instruments to us!!
Man you guys are the best duo on CZcams! Keep rockin Ellen!!
I’m 70 and my gingers don’t like to do they are told to do.
I purchased one of these little gems, and was blow away by its qualities.
No sharp frets.
And the nicest setup on a bass guitar purchased new, to date.
Thank you for presenting this.
Ellen you are an inspiration to all young ladies.
I can actually play this.
Disobedient fingers not withstanding
Какая лучезарная улыбка! Балдею от её бас партий!
If she's that good now, I can only imagine how good she'll be in a few years. I've been playing for 45 years and I think I need to do some practicing after hearing her. Very nice, keep it up.
Really cool bass guitar playing, wow. So brilliant team Ellen and Dad 🙂👍
Thanks for the review and information! Ellen, your smile and laughter are so contagious. I always feel happy when I watch your videos. Thanks, Hovac, for sharing Ellen with us!
Oh my God... i want this bass!!! Iam music teacher and my principal instrument is a bass.
I Subscribe in this Channel a some days ago. I Love you, Ellen and his Dad, show us that the world still breath, to new talents. Thanks for exist!!!
You are too nice together :-) And the bass suits Ellen perfectly, sounds exactly as it should. A really good bass with Ellen's magic fingers.
She has perfect timing in her playing :-)
Not only an adorable young lady but an amazing talent with her bass playing
Hey Ellen always amazing and a joy to watch you playing. You're playing made that bass have a hope for others to purchase as beginning entry into bass playing for those of your age. Positively inspiring you are to many who want to play the bass. Your dad, so supportive, and truly a genuine musician.
You made a inexpensive bass sound like Gold. Nice job Ellen...
Boy, they say dynamite comes in small packages... That thing sounded awesome! Not to mention the cool Yousician track... Another amazing hit by them... And of course Ellen's flawless playing.
At this point Ellen could make any bass sound good! Keep Rockin' young lady! But more importantly keep loving your music and keep playin'!
This video was great. It reminds of my kid when he was small and learning bass. Fantastic playing too, keep up the good work!
Kiddo,you & The Dad are priceless. Luv U Guys!!!!🤙🏼🫵🏼🪨
That is a great bass for the price.I got one cause I love the way it looks and I have a thing for tiny basses lol. I'm using it as a mod platform and trying to make it is "high quality" as possible. Great video!
The bass is cool (I thought its price is somewhere between 2 and 3 hundred bucks), and Ellen is awesome and lucky one to have such a Dad, who is both a friend and a mentor. Thank you guys for the video and for the vibe! You earned my "like"!
I've seen a few of your videos and your playing is really impressive. I hope you're having as much fun as it looks like you're having. I wish you all the best.
That giggle at the end. Thank you two. I see this is a year ago now. I look forward t0 catching up.
This reminds me the Amadeus movie. Salieri says "I do not envy Mozart, but I do envy having a father like his who taught him everything since he was a child".
Great job and great playing Ellen! I have an Ibanez Mikro on order for my daughters to play around with. It's very interesting to see this at almost a third of the price! I still think the Ibanez will be a little bit better quality, but this is definitely great for the price, and you rocked it!
I have both a Glarry and Ibanez Mikro. They are the two basses I play most often. I upgraded the pickups and bridge on the Mikro, but only the bridge on the Glarry. The soldering on the pot wiring is a bit iffy on the Glarry and the frets could use a bit of work, but otherwise, it's a coin flip.
Ellen, your whole body expresses joy as you play. It is impossible to watch and listen to you play and not feel joy as well. You are amazing!
The best part is that she is really grooving with the music. Shows that it is not just technical skill.
Thanks for the fun and informative video! I loved the envelope filter in the demo!
Do you ever play fretless bass?
Yes, practicing it slowly to get used to it.
@@EllenPlaysBass Nice! I look forward to seeing that sometime in the future!
Fretless acoustic upright bass might be fun in the future as well. I've seen very young people in bluegrass music bands using stepstools to enable them to play those.
At just $110, Glarry is going to sell a thousand of these little basses solely on the basis of this one review. You folks had better hire some more craftspeople - especially a really great bass tech like Derek Jones - and while you're at it buy a bunch of really amazing wood planks as well! Ellen and Hovak will be coming back very soon for another, somewhat larger bass, and they're going to ask for something really special!
Meanwhile, Ellen's playing just gets better and better. I can't wait to see what she's playing and who she's playing beside, 10 years from now! 😎
Her giggle is contagious!! Keep on playing!!
I know nothing about music. I watch because I'm so impressed with the little dynamo. Ellen you are so impressive. I enjoy watching you play.
Just love Ellen’s smile and her enthusiasm. Great video.
I wish , I had a Bass like this when we were kids,we had a Bass with warped neck! The strings were half inch to high, strengthened our fingers
Lovely couple (Dad + Ellen) Her smile added up with her skill with the bass is unbeatable ❤
DERRICK! Those were some of the funkiest couple of measures of bass lines that I have ever heard; from Derrick the technician. The undiscovered talent that is all around us is mind blowing!
Love her smile...She is Soooo proud of herself...Awesome!
You guys are always fun watching!
Reminds me of the wonderful Tal Wikenfeld. Ellen has that perfect timing and feel.
What a pleasant way to start my day ............... Ellen and Pop - This makes my upcoming weekend soooooooo much better. Hope your weekend is enjoyable and safe - thanks for the pump up ........... I would add this, amazing how well you are doing in a relatively short period of time
I love your videos, and it is great that your family can enjoy what you are doing musically.
Bless you guys. I hope you inspire hundreds of young musicians.
WOW - haven't seen your vids in a while - Ellen has gotten so big. I absolutely love the way you put so much attention into training her to play bass. You two have a great relationship. keep it up. 😄
She's improved so much since I've watched. Absolutely Awesome!☝
Very nice bass. I really enjoy your videos. Keep on playing.
Hi Ellen,
My name is Robert Bussiere I live in Ontoagon mi and I am 66 years old, because of your inspiration I went and bought myself a new Ibanez SR 300E 4 string bass guitar 350.00 the different tones you can get out of it is amazing! If you don't have one already, get one it will blow you away.
And action is extremely good VERY LIGHT ACTION i barley have to push down on the strings!
A Fan Always Bob
Way to Go Ellen. !! Great to see the both of you. Thanks for sharing.
Great video and excellent performance! Always looking forward to another Ellen video. Thank you.
Ellen has the coolest dad.
He is obviously very proud of his daughter.
It gives a very wholesome feeling to watch
What a light of life..that is a cool bass..keep trucking on dear Ellen..love ur playing
Hey, Ellen ... Even though I am old enough to be your grandfather (or great grandfather maybe), I still admire the progress you make day by day. You just keep getting better and better. Today, on this base, you did something that I have been waiting for ... you played every single note perfectly in tune! I have noticed that on basses with a long neck, it is hard for you to reach or the distance you have to move you left hand is too far to play so fast. So, then the note you play is close, but not always "spot on" and in tune. Today was it was a thrill to listen to you to play. You are really getting up to speed. You might even want to stick with something close to this size for a while. Congratulataions on a magnificent job. "Grandpa John" Big hugs from me.
You are such a true star Ellen, not only a great bassist, but you also show us the most important thing, music should be fun. Keep up the amazing work 👏👏👏👏
Always enjoy pops and Ellen conversing. Ellen has great technique!
Great review and very honest. Ellen is an absolute joy to watch and listen to..
Love this review very in depth y'all provide a lot of good information excellent in helping us musician bass players
Awesome video!! That's a cool bass!! Love your smiles Ellen.
