  • Translator Note: Izumi Shikibu was a poet in medieval Japan who attracted scandal by getting into affairs. Himiko is from several centuries earlier, and was a shaman queen.

      You messed up a fair bit. するりするりら is more like "slowly and steadily", in this context meaning slow and steadily losing one's "purity", not just "until you see her dark core", so there's a bit of gendered judgment going on here beyond or in contradiction to the "girls' power" theme (is this song empowering, or "slut shaming"?). Also, ましろじぶんをすぎてまああらわのあらわ is a pretty clever pun, given that arawa means like open, bare, naked in public. I like this song, but dislike that it's probably a bunch of 40/50-something male producer/song writers making young girls sing it. Good job on catching HImiko and Shikibu references, though. I guess 本屋 is the only tip on that :)

      Translation by Techboy + Lurkette
      TL Note in description
      romaji from jpopsongs
      when i made this file, i took what seemed like the most sense between the two translators versions. everyone has their own interpretation.
      if you want to look up their individual translations, you can look up technologicalboy on tumblr or lurkette on hello online forum.

      Also for reference, Chicchi is the one who wrote the lyrics for the song. If you don't know a lot about BiSH, chicchi is the one who sings the line you quoted with the pun.
      the members have actually written the lyrics for about half of their entire catalogue. Most notably momoko gumi company (short brown hair) and LingLing (twin tails)

      Skeptical about names on lyrics. Savvy producers will know to put a fan-favorite as the author (I work in the ghostwriting industry, for one thing).

      considering each member has songs credited to them, i highly doubt thats the case.
      not counting their latest album
      aina = 3
      atsuko = 2
      ayuni = 1 (newest member)
      chicchi = 4
      hug mii = 2 (ex member)
      lingling = 5
      momoko = 10
      yukako = 3 (ex member)
      and again, if you dont know much about them, the most popular members of this group are by far aina and chicchi. ayuni 3rd most popular probably.
