This was a baddass little car. Friend had one. Scared the crap out of me many times on fast mountian runs in the Santa Cruz redwoods of California. Car with that live axel loved to be driven really hard.

Super true. And half the size of a modern sportster! Feels like it was built for narrow mountain roads!

Had a 67 MGB GT when I was in high school. Miss that little car. Super fun.

MGB GT is on the someday list - maybe I'll get lucky and one will fall in my lap. Tough to beat that generation of sports cars though. Everything you need, nothing you don't!

I worked for Datsun in California just when these were phased out for the 240Z. These were reliable “British 3:42 sports cars”. The Z was a game changer.

    I loved the one I had....a 67 2000 SRL....scary fast go kart of a car!

I'd love to have this one back at sea level - even at 8,000 ft it still pulls!

1970 I was 16 and my dad and I drove a 2000 from SF to Key West, then up to NYC, then back to SF. Only major problem with the 2000 was the high compression ratio vs the 1600 and so when the engine got hot, the alum head would then warp, blowing the head gasket and snapping the overhead camshalf in half. Happened three times so we sold the car. Buy a 1600, not a 2000.
