- Amiens Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture located in the city of Amiens, France. Construction of the cathedral began in 1220 and was completed in 1288, taking nearly 70 years to finish. It is one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, with a length of 145 meters and a height of 42 meters.
The cathedral's facade is decorated with intricate sculptures and is dominated by three large portals, each containing a richly decorated tympanum. The central portal is particularly noteworthy, with its depiction of Christ in Majesty surrounded by the apostles.
