    Gary, thank you so much for what you do. I bought a modded TDI pro after seeing how well you did with your TDI for so many years. I added a sadie coil, and its turned out to be a fantastic machine, still capable, and found gold thanks to your instruction too. Thanks again

      @@CodysGarage Hi, I bought the modded Pro from a single owner who had some noise reduction and fine gold mods done by a chap named LukeOzDigger in Australia, who may have collaborated with Reg Sniff in the US. I don't have any of their details, not sure if he does this work anymore. Highly recommend you search youtube footage 'Whites TDI pro Modified' by Lukeozdigger to see improved performance first hand.

    I like my TDI Oz Pro but in the Victorian golden triangle we get massive sudden differences in mineralisation. If I change elevation (old timers diggings, river bed, on the flats), I need to adjust as I transfer. So to avoid readjusting every 5 minutes I divide the area up into separate zones of search.
    My friends have minelab 5000s and sdc2300s and they seem to handle Australian soil more automatically, but for the price this machine can find stuff well!

    I have the TDI and your advice will help, got the gb2 later so have the best of both techs to work with. GB2 has found more small nugs but it really is more finicky as to soil types/ground mineralization. I found the TDI somewhat frustrating because it puts out so many false beeps for some reason, making it harder to recognize the smaller pieces. Have to learn to ignore those transient noises it puts out. However there are many coils to choose from 4", dual field, 4"&7" combo, 10". I prefer smaller for the ssme reasons you have noted, easier to see small gold and search the nooks n crannies.

    • @MrMccurley
      @MrMccurley Před 5 lety +1

      Had a GMT myself a while back. Very good machine. Where the TDi and other pulse induction machines have an advantage is in hot ground, like around serpentine. That kind of ground swamps a VLF machine, but the PI units are barely affected by it, and in really hot ground you can raise the delay a bit. The advantage of a VLF machine, like the GMT, is that they are far better at detecting ferrous vs non ferrous targets. Hang on to the GMT, save your lunch money, get a TDI as well, then you've got the best of both worlds...

      @@pulesjet Well, Ok then, beer money. Seriously though, while it ain't easy, some guys are actually making a living at this. Check out US Miner's channel. A while back I had the chance to go in to the field with a couple of guys who have been doing this for years. I studied their techniques closely, and learned that at least I'm on the right track. One point- learning to properly use a gold detector is a bit like learning to play a violin. It takes practice, practice, practice. It also takes research, lots of it. I haven't scored big enough yet to quit my day job, but at 67, I'm still trying...

    • @pulesjet
      @pulesjet Před 5 lety

      @@MrMccurley Yep it can be done. Age 11 I grovelled on my knees begging my mom to buy my first detector. $50.00 was a butt load of money back in those days. I've owned and operated a Pile of them to date. Built a butt load of my own too. Building some what escalated the learning curve most well. Practice I have. No such thing as a Expert with a Metal Detector. The Never Ending Learning Story. But that being said I'm up there some place. Between Expert and Not Yet ? LOL
