My ex-husband got a big ticket for having New York plates and license in L.A. when he had just started a post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA. He was driving an ancient Ford Country Squire station wagon, not a new Lamborghini. They made him get out of the car and sit down on a grassy patch while they decided what to do with him, which seemed excessive. This must be the excuse California cops use to harrass drivers who they're curious about for whatever reason.

Love the way this cop handled the situation.He was very reasonable, educated Raven with state rules regulations at the same time informed him what to do. The best thing was he didn't have this bossy attitude like the other officers in Beverly Hills.
Yeah, he wasn't being a dick or trying to punish him. He was just trying to enforce the noise limit laws to protect the community and he did it in a way to help him understand that he was breaking it. Even when he asked the guy recording to get back on the sidewalk, he was still exceedingly polite and respectful. You could tell he just wanted everyone to be safe.
The fact he took the time to show him displayed that he really knew what he was doing and believed what he was doing was right. He did his job effectively but never disrespected anyone and was very reasonable while carrying himself in a professional manner. This is what a real police officer looks like.

From Australia The motorcycle officer was very professional in his attitude. Cannot say the same for the officers that turned up in squad cars. Things started to change when they turned up their attitude was totally unprofessional they should have stood back and let the original office do his job. Why would they need two cars turn up FFS

When I was a teenager, I had a Honda Scrambler with the exhaust sawed off. I installed "Snuff-Or-Nots", which is like a washer that fits inside the pipe with a stem that goes up thru a little hole to a knob on the top of the exhaust. Turn the knob to switch from full open pipes to "snuffed" pipes. I was riding a slight uphill with my exhaust open. My friend was on his brand-new Ducati. A cop went by in the other lane, heard my illegal open pipes, did a U-turn, and pulled us over. Well, while the cop was doing a U-turn, I reached back and closed my Snuff-Or-Nots. Cop pulled us over and made me rev my engine. The exhaust was nice and quiet. So then he made my friend rev his Ducati with a stock muffler and said it was too loud and wrote him a ticket saying he had to take the bike back and have the muffler fixed. So stupid.
And this is the reason why we left California...its ok to be a bum on the side of the road harassing tax paying citizens but god forbid you have a loud exhaust

I’m a sound engineer and you’d be surprised how quiet 95dB actually is. You can have a conversation with someone at 80dB. The guy that yelled DDE across the street was easily over 95dB hahahaha! A crowded room average dBa is about 85dB. A live concert is usually around 110dB. Jet engine is 120dB.

I had a problem in Florida a few years ago, the cop said my UK licence wasn’t valid in Fla. He didn’t know the international law about driving licenses being valid in other countries (the same law that allows US tourists from driving in the UK.)

As a California attorney, I can tell you that as a Canadian, you are required to have a drivers license from Dubai, Argentina or Cuba. A Canada license makes no sense unless you are driving only on a day of the month that is a prime number. With the Canadian license, on non-prime days, you can drive in reverse anytime. As you can see, our laws are designed to make total sense (if you're on meth).
