Bless him. He looks like he hasnt got a clue whats going on around him . Amazing singer used to dance around to the pogues with my kids when they were 7 and 11 . Their music stretched the generations .RIP.
But he did have a clue, esp if you watched the whole thing. He had a brain disease that either they didn't know at this time ir it was being kept secret. His replies may have been slow but he was sharp and on point with them.

I started my course reading his lyrics and ended the course with us crying and cheering as his casket was moved. He did that. He lives in all of us because he his us.

"The Pogues singer was hospitalised in 2022 with an infection and he revealed on New Year's Eve that year he had been diagnosed with encephalitis. It is is an uncommon but serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed."
But he actually died of pneumonia.
He was a heavy drinker/user, but looked fantastic here - not sure how old he was, because he withdrew from the public eye about four years ago now. Absolute legend. Addictions don't define a person xxx❤
@@thinkingallowed7042When Irishmen left Ireland, after the gruelling famine, (Britain refused to help) and sailed to America, they were very homesick and lonely. They worked hard and met up in bars. Hollywood film makers liked to have Priests and extras with weird Irish accents. Irish people don't drink excessively, any more than other countries. Guinness, famous throughout the world, has probably enhanced the belief.
Irish music and dancing have been the rage since the world began to see Riverdance. We are blessed with the ability to perform.

Surprised he made it past 60. Went to one of the Pogues gigs in Australia in the 1980s & he collapsed, inebriated on stage. The gig came to an end. A prisoner of his addiction

He was first generation, born in England, but he spent his formative years in southern Ireland. Even living in London, he lived in a working-class Irish Catholic community and his family influences played a strong part in his identity. To say that he’s not Irish, to write him off as some kind of plastic paddy, is utterly ridiculous. Had he not emigrated, you can be sure that the Pogues never would have formed at all and he probably wouldn’t be into Irish traditional music as much. Oft times, it takes those living on the outside, within the diaspora, to really make the homeland population really appreciate their own culture and traditions. And MacGowan absolutely, positively did that.
Rest in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Lady, Shane. We love you and will miss you. ✝️🙏

RIP SHANE ... certainly lived his life to the fullest as a young man very much doubt he wanted to be wheelchair bound with all sorts of health problems forevermore.
I met Shane back in the 70s he always explicitly stated that he wanted to be in a wheelchair. He set up a 8 metre high blackboard and stood on a step ladder and drew up his plans for how he'd get in wheelchair with all sorts of health problems forevermore. That might be stretching the truth as he didn't really have a step ladder he just had suction cups tied to his limbs and he crawled all over the blackboard like some kind of spider. He had fun, anything outside of that is meaningless.
He lived by his music, and he was a a drunken poet punk rock Irish singer! He lived by the sword God bless him 🍀👊✊

Nah. Get as Fd up as possible because when it's all said and done one's pointless existence will be forgotten. Friends and family are strangers and we're all thrown together to suffer on a strange rock flying through space. We're tragically evolved monkeys and nothing more so get as wasted as you can, have fun, and let our meat and bone blobs decay in all their glorious insignificance. Nothing is worth it and it's a shame to be born.

He has broken his back which put him in the wheelchair , then broke his knee that stopped any chance of walking again. He had a viral brain infection that finished the guy off. It wasn't a drug n alcohol death but its easy for the detractors to say that.
