Conservatives suffer huge losses in local elections

  • By any measure it's been a grim day for the Conservatives - they lost the by-election for an MP in Blackpool South thanks to a massive swing to Labour, they're on track to lose around half of the local election council seats they contested and their projected national vote share is down to a dismal 25%.
With so many losses, Rishi Sunak has described the night as 'disappointing'. But he’s sure voters will stick with the Tories come the general election.

Or the fate of the Kurds denied a their own state by the Turks and the Arabs. Or the fate of a million Muslim refugees being expelled from Pakistan. Sure, if they did manage to secure seats in the upcoming elections, they'll have earned the right to media attention. But currently, they are being given a platform without properly being challenged on their policies, funding strategies or the party's official governance structure.
