Love it!!! im planning on doing my own closet and your video was really helpful! Thanks!
Awesome job clean and simple design. I have 1/4 inch ply from old closet going to repurpose and give this a try. TY!
I love this - beautiful work💜🙌
Omg definitely doing this my closet is like a medium sized with not lot of space definitely going to do this I was looking into buying one but thought it probably won’t last and won’t be as sturdy
My closet is the same size love it
great job!
Exactly the video I was looking for. Planning a cost efficient closet design. Thanks
Women can everything!!!!
Super. I adore you
Very nice
My favourite is how the video completely skipped on how the main section is attached to the wall! guess ill just place it there with thoughts and prayers
Yea and skipped the rod instillation.
Wants you to go to her blog but no video of cabinet (THEE most important part)/rod installation..does have instructions
lucky closet i have at my grandparent already have one, but i live with my parent and I wish i have one at my house I have like meaduim side walk in closet i dont think it work
can you please share the details about the finishing trim? Did you paint it or it came painted? where did you get it?
I share the details on my website. The 1"x2" trim pieces came from Home Depot and they are purchased already primed. So I painted them with white paint.
How did you put in the hanger sticks?
Great job! How much did the project cost in total without the tools?
Sorry, I am just answering your question. In my link to my website, I have the estimated cost to build something similar to this organizer. I would plan around $150 (mine was less than this) for the materials but this will depend on the size of the closet plus the type of material you use.
hello! this is a great video. i am very surprised how much closet organizers cost. after i do my murphy bed, i will definitely design something for my master closet. what is the primary reasoning for not taking the unit all the way to the floor? the baseboard could be notched out
Hi Kendra! There were two reasons for not taking this organizer to the floor. First, was the look I wanted, and the second was that I didn't want the organizer sitting on the carpet. Yes, I could cut out the carpet but then I would have needed to address the carpet. Hope this answers your question.
How are you attaching the organizer to the studs...through the back part of the organizer with screws? Screwing the top part into the shelf?
Hi! To attach the organizer to the studs, I have a top bracing and bottom bracing inside the organizer (they are secured to the organizer) which is screwed into the studs. You can see an example of this at about 3:30 minutes into the video, you can see two screws at the top of the organizer right below the top shelf. Then I have another one placed at the bottom of the organizer. Hope this helps but I do have more details on my website, the link is in the description of the video.
@@TwoFeetFirst ..an incomplete teaser to get folks to your website...instructions but no video on how to hang this
Hello! My family and I have been thinking it’s time to renovate our closets. What kind of plywood did you use? Or what do you recommend? My closets are regular sized two door.
Hello! I used 3/4" plywood from the hardware store. It's called Sande Plywood at Home Depot. Hope that helps!
@@TwoFeetFirst thank you so much!!
Hi Megan, thanks for sharing your process! Curious - what brackets did you use to secure the organizer to the studs? I checked your twofeetfirst blog and didn’t see a picture or details on the kind of bracket(s) there either. Thanks again!
Hi! I used 2-1/2" wood screws to attach the organizer to the studs, no brackets. There is a picture on the blog that shows the screws under the section "HOW TO SECURE THE ORGANIZER TO THE WALL", here's a link to the page: www.twofeetfirst.net/how-to-build-easy-diy-closet-organizer/
Hopefully, this answers your question.
@@TwoFeetFirst Thanks! I think for some reason some of the photos on the blog don't load (it just shows 3 horizontal dots). I've tried viewing on multiple devices. Anyways, thanks again for the reply - looking forward to building my own version of this!
Are you using finishing nails to secure something weight bearing to a wall?
No, I use screws that are secured to a stud or I use toggle bolts.
Do you recommend screws instead of using a nail gun? And why?
I like to use screws to attach the shelves because I personally feel that they will hold together better.
Can’t see the work as it’s being done.
Can I do this without the picket screws and just screw in from the outside of the shelf?
Yes you can but the pocket holes allow you to recess your screws and provide addition strength
Where can I find the rods? I went to the thing where the supplies were listed but when I clicked rod link it said they weren’t available anymore
Thanks for letting me know that the link was not working. I have updated the link for the 1-5/16" heavy duty closet pole sockets. If you are wondering about the rods, I used 1-1/4" wooden dowels. Have a good day!
Wow, you made that look so easy! Nice tutorial. Question: I see the top support for the shelf unit but is there another one toward the bottom? Or is the unit also attached to the wall/studs with pocket holes too? Finally, is the top shelf also attached to the wall using pocket holes? I've seen them in the past but never used that tool. Thanks!
There are multiple supports on the organizer, so yes there is one at the bottom. The supports are attached to the organizer cabinet and then the supports are secured to the wall with screws into studs (at least two per support to hold the weight!). I didn't use pocket holes on the top shelf, it is nailed to the side rod supports. BUT there are pocket holes on the organizer that attach to the top shelf. Sorry that was a lot of information but hopefully it answers your questions.
@@TwoFeetFirst Thank you for such clarity! Can you tell me the size of your bracing? On your blog, the numbers on the plans were too small to read. :)
It depends on which bracing you are looking for. The organizer is 17" deep by 28' wide. Based on this the top shelf bracing (goes all the way across the closet) is 6"x16-3/4" and the bracing for the organizer is 3"x26-1/2" (to allow for the 3/4" sides). Hopefully, this helps!
@@TwoFeetFirst One last question: what length finishing nail did you use for installing the trim? Thank you again for a terrific tutorial!
@@dianeduceymusic4547 Sorry for the delayed response. I used 1-1/4"
Geez where can I find a women like her to marry? Lol. Loved the video!!
How much did it cost u
It cost me about $150.
you need to cover more detail of how you are doing this work, sizes, material, etc. very vague.
Hi, there is a link to a webpage that has all that information: www.twofeetfirst.net/how-to-build-easy-diy-closet-organizer/
Don't any of these people know how to build anything WITHOUT using a Kreg jig....
