Here, too, you’ll find villas hidden among the trees. For you the attraction is its famous tavernas serving delicious fresh fish, followed by dancing till dawn - sometimes on the tables. In the 5th century BC, Ermioni was known for its production of royal purple derived from the murex sea snail and reserved for the use of royalty and still retained in folk memory with the phrase, to the purple born.
Ermioni is located in the area of Ermionida in the southeast of the Argolide region. There is little written information on Ermioni in the guides, at most a paragraph describing him as a small authentic fishing village. Yet it is a beautiful Greek coastal city, very central to many places of historical and cultural interest, surrounded by enchanting bays and beaches. A magical place that, once you've been and explored, will bring you back again and again.
Ermioni (Ancient Hermione) can be divided into three sections. The port and commercial port Limani is located on the northern side, with the lively Mandrakia on the southern side of the peninsula. At the eastern end of the city, there is the pine-clad forest area called Bisti. Here you can take pleasant walks at any time of the day, as there is plenty of shade, and visit the 5th Cen. AC temple of Athena and other ancient, Byzantine and medieval monuments. It is also possible to swim in the crystal clear sea, from the rocky inlets along the southern side of the Bisti, which overlook the islands of Dokos and Hydra. There are no beaches in Ermioni, apart from a small strip of sand near the Bisti, where some local residents go to bathe. The sea surrounds the city on three sides, giving the feeling of being on an island, but without the possibility of getting stuck in adverse weather conditions.
Some books have referred to Ermioni as a seaside city of captivating beauty, this is a good description, as it remains authentically Greek, charming, hospitable and friendly. For the visitor of Ermioni, there are numerous services, from banks, post office, physiotherapist, tourist office where it is possible to buy tickets for the nearby islands of Hydra and Spetses, buses to Kranidi and Kosta, bars and taverns.

This cosmopolitan hangout in the Peloponnese has it all. Beautiful beaches backed by the sun-kissed Mediterranean landscape, attractive summer villas and stunning new resorts, yacht marinas, the island of Spetses across the narrow straits, fresh fish and a lively nightlife are just a few highlights of Porto Heli and Ermioni, a destination for the cognoscenti.
A few kilometres south of Porto Heli, on the southernmost cape in the Argolid, Agios Emilianos takes its name from a chapel with a good view of Spetses. Hidden in the lush surroundings are the grand summer homes of famous Greeks and foreigners and isolated sandy beaches where you can enjoy the warm clear waters. Some lucky people that they visit the beach during April or Octomber and November can enjoy privacy

Hi Ermioni! You have a beautiful name in deed. You have to fly to Athens International Airport and then it is a 2:30 hours drive to reach Ermioni village at Peloponnese Riviera. Or take the local bus service. 😊😊
