  • In this episode of Door Closers, I demonstrate a brand new door closer I received and installed. It also has a hold open feature that allows the door to stay opened when needed. I also preform a “seasonal adjust” on another closer to get the door to latch fully. Thanks for watching!

    Great video man! Nice to see you’ve made some expansions and your workshop area looks really cool! I’ve also installed a door closer on my garage too and I remember the old universal hardware closer that used to be there!

    I just bought and installed this kind of door closer, but it's very difficult (hard/heavy) to open it. 😰 How to make it easier to push the door? I hope you'll see my message. 😅 Thanks. ☺️

    Thank you so much! After a lot many videos I finally understood what a hold open does ! Coming from India where we do not see this concept often, I had a hard time trying to figure out that. Can you also explain what a Cush n stop (LCN) type closer is ?

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  Před 7 měsíci

      You’re welcome! I’m glad this video was informative to you. Cush-N-Stop is a term from LCN where a door closer has a built in door stop on the closer’s arm. Other manufacturers also offer this feature but call it a different term(s). You can order different styles of Cush-N-Stop arms depending on how far you’d like the door to be opened.

    Also get a closer with Delayed Action. If door is pushed past 80 degrees it will close very slow untill it gets to 80 degrees.

      Nope! That downlight is original to the sign. As @Thunderbolt 1003 said, this particular one is a LightAlarms “Quickie” model UXQLR. This sign was also branded as Emergi-Lite and Dynaray. (Dynaray was the original manufacturer)

    Would this hold open function work only when the door is opened over 90 degrees? Can it be adjusted to hold the door opened at smaller angles, like keep it only lightly open at 45 degrees? I can't find this info anywhere. Thanks for the good video.

      Thank you! Glad you liked the video. Yeah, about that Universal Hardware closer... It was the first closer I ever owned. It was installed on 2 different doors. At some point I decided to “see how fast I could make the door close.” So I completely backed out the valve, then as soon as I released the door the valve sprung right out and all of the oil shot out everywhere. At the time I didn’t know how to refill it so me and a friend tried to bend the arm, bust open the body, etc. We were able to bend the arm but couldn’t break the body. I ended up throwing the closer away.

      @@ExitSign250 How would you use it as an exit door when it is swinging inside? people always escape to outside. Exit Hardware shall always be reversed handing (push bar from inside and trim handle from outside), as I see your door swings inside and it is handed as a Left-Hand door (Back Yard to Basement)

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  Před 2 lety +1

      This is a house so exit doors and hardware isn’t required. If it were on a commercial building, the door would be required to swing to the outside and have panic hardware as well.

    You haven't mounted the door closer properly on your bedroom door I use to collect door closers I had 800 of them all different brands they damage the doors totally I would rather spend 300 on a loxinox gate door closer they are amazing mount your door closer like you have in the garage the body of the closer on your bedroom door is way 2 close to the hinge hence why it's weak closing your door

    • @ExitSign250

      I am aware of my bedroom closer not being installed in the best way. I did that on purpose as I did not want to block the exit sign I have above the same door. I have also worked with Locinox gate closers before and they are some of the best out there.
