When a brother's hostile, and has been for awhile
Put a dollar every day in the sadaqah (charity)
It may be small but you do it for the baraka (blessing)
I know you're saving for the Polo and the Nautica
A poor student but you do it just to please Allah
Things like praying for an ailing brother, under the weather
Obeying yo your lovely mother, it's for the better
Stay and help your baby brother, put on a sweater
Even saying good to one another when you're together
Advice to another sister about a mister
Your wife always go and kiss her, tell her you miss her
At night do quiet dikhr (mentioning God), and pray the witr
Invite a guy who wants to bicker, to share a snicker
Grand plans expand in our small little hands
But we overlook demands that just seem like strands
We get jammed on exams, cause we skip the small things
Small baby deeds come, bring the blessings!

I was a teenager going to Faith thrift shop and Old Adams on Grove St with my Grandfather Bashir Khan. He was one of the original members of the ADAMS board, he used to handle the cash. The community of ADAMS today blows my mind. Mashallah.
I was one of Brother Joshuas youth that he guided. I used the word “guided” because were one the initial youth of ADAMS and many of us needed the Mosque to keep us on the straight path. Im 30 now.

MUSIC IS HARAM. Playing instruments of music is a Greater Sin. It is Harām to play instruments like guitar, piano, tambourine, drums etc. Listening & SINGING to music is also a Greater Sin. Music as a Greater sin is reported by Fazl ibn Shazān from Imam ‘Ali ar-Riďa (a.s.):
“And to be engrossed in musical instruments is also a Greater Sin.”
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) reports from the Holy Prophet (S) that he said:
“I prohibit for you dancing and playing flute, drums and tabla.”1
The Holy Prophet (S) has also said,
“The Almighty Allah has sent me as a mercy to the worlds, to guide the people. And He ordered me to eradicate the playing of flute and other instruments of music, all games of vice, idol (worship) and all practices of the days of ignorance.”2
Amir ul-Mu’minīn ‘Ali (a.s.) says,
“Angels do not even enter a house that has wine, drum, tambourine or a flute. Even the prayers of the inhabitants of this house are unacceptable. They are deprived of barakat.”7
Hazrat Imam ‘Ali ar-Riďa (a.s.) has said,
“To listen to a musical instrument is one of the Greater Sins.”
The Holy Prophet (S) has stated,
“A person who possesses a sitar, on the day of Qiyāma will be raised with a black face. His hands will be holding a sitar of fire. Seventy thousand angels with maces of fire will be hitting him on the face and the head. The singer will arise from his grave, blind, deaf and dumb. The adulterer will be similarly raised. The player of flute will also be made to rise in this way as will be the drum player.”9
It means that all such people will appear on the field of “Mahshar” (on the day of reckoning) as blind, deaf and dumb.
