Harimoto has definitely improved his play against choppers as he's grown and matured as a player. Compare this (or his 2nd match against Filus) to his T2 matches against Joo or his first match against Filus - the difference is stark.
I'd love to see how Harimoto would do against Hou Yingchao at his peak. He definitely leaned a lot harder on sidespin, variation and general 'weirdness' than Yuto does. This Harimoto vs. prime Matsushita would also be a very entertaining match IMO.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he is older now and therefore stronger, being able to loop more of the chopped balls... You could see him become quite tired as the T2 match went on. Food for thought

@@muemamuema8020 i think he injured really bad few years ago and stopped playing and recently just started playing in European league games.

He played for Mainz 05 (Germany) for the first half of the current season. He’ll be playing for Saarbrücken (Germany) in the second half.

Nah, he has been playing in the tleague for some years now. But the jtta doesn't count on him for international tournaments.

ACL is hard injury, and he had it probably twice which is around 3 years of not training. I saw he didn't play in 2019/2020 and in 2020/2021 he played in second Japan league, around 2021/2022 he was in J League as the last option and he played around 2-3 matches and then Mainz gets him rest is history, in 2017/2018 he was top 20 or 30 in ranking he takes one match with Xu Xin, He won with Samsonov.

Harimoto controls Muramatsu's FH with ease, whereas in the Bundesliga Muramatsu is killing his opponents with that weapon...
