It's a shame this movie wasn't more financially successful. It was a really great film.

I think nearly every movie that came out the same time as Dr. Sleep did poorly. It was just a bad time to be released.

1:22 man that scene was so hard to watch but a necessary evil to showcase how horribly evil that group truly was.
7:41 when you realize the magic of cinema and Kubrick imitating The art of cinema. I imagine The goosebumps watching The final scene with that music for Flanagan is something amazing!

thedys70 ...we watched the director’s cut on VUDU...a much better version that follows the book a little more. I want to buy it as soon as it is available! Do you know if they plan on selling it on DVD?

@@reneebecher4463 Residing in Australia, I can only advise on what is available locally here; so the 180min DC is only available on bluray & 4K, but NOT on DVD, which is the theatrical cut only....
@@reneebecher4463 Oh, and I had to watch The Shining as well last weekend, it had been YEARS since I last saw it. And that being the full 144 minute long version. Ah, nostalgia!

Tell me why does Stephen King hate the original movie of ‘The Shining’ but love ‘Doctor Sleep’?
Michelle Heyduck I think Doctor Sleep beautifully captured the essence and the themes in his new book.
However, Kubrick really missed the mark on the story and the characters. Jack is suppose to have a major transition through the story and that’s not visible at all.
Because he change a lot of stuff from the book
like the scene with the kid was like a hit in the face i wasnt.........ready

they did film in the original hotel? or was it just a reconstruction? such a weird vibe coming from seeing that place again
it was a full reconstruction of the set!! the only scenes they took from the shining were the valley shots over the water and up the mountain
There never was an original hotel to begin with. The hotel in The Shining is also just a set.

@@n4ko The establishing shot of the hotel's exterior is a real hotel - The Timberline Lodge. You'll see it in the sunny, happier outdoor footages of the hotel at the beginning of the film (you'll noticed that the hedge maze is absent in these shots). This is the hotel that doesn't want Kubrick to use room 217. Everything else are sets - all the interior, the hedge maze, the snow-covered hotel exterior later in the film. When they were touring the hotel's exterior when the hedge maze is introduced, that outdoor area is a set too. Incredible isn't it? It was, at the time, the largest set ever constructed at the Elstree studio. Trivia, the hotel's Colorado Lounge is inspired by Ahwahnee Hotel Yosemite so they look very similar.

Потрясающий фильм. Все клевые и режиссер и исполнители и музыка, все на уровне Сияния Кубрика. На самом деле фильм довольно смелый. Как часто увидишь что на экране детей пытают? На самом деле эти моменты вызывали отвращение но Ребекка и прочие сыграли прекрасно им веришь. Сама исполнительница Абры отлично справилась...если не учитывать что по логике Кинговского произведения она должна была быть белой СПОЙЛЕР Дэн Торренс имеет сводную сестру, которая является матерью Абры. Так что Ден приходится ей дядей. Но скажу честно, мне никогда в жизни не было так плевать на то, что вместо белой опять взяли черную. Во первых потому что фильм к этому адаптировали, во вторых потому что она справилась на отлично. Местами фильм получился куда более пугающим чем даже у Кубрика хотя в целом вопросы поднимаются одни и те же.

This movie is perhaps one of the best ever to be written and yet I've sat through an hours worth of hot garbage that had higher views than this. Rotten tomatoes are an absolute fuckin joke. Those "critics" are ass but this movie right here deserves an award.

Yea for me personally it felt like the ending was too rushed and it made rose seem really weak. I wasn't expecting much as you never should do that with movies or shows due to possible disappointments but I was hoping for a bigger fight scene, Something that would have lasted a bit longer than what it did but other than the ending I really enjoyed the movie :)

I think those that think this film is The Shining II will be disappointed. Nothing can touch the Kubrick masterpiece, and this story just touches on some elements of that film. That said, I have a lot of excitement for this film after reading the book. Hope it's good!
