  • The 747, one of the most recognizable aircraft on Earth, was created by a team of 50,000 Boeing employees in the 1960s. Nearly five decades later, we can still appreciate the incredible efforts of these men and women.

Boeings fault for making the 777 so good! And engine manufacturers increase in reliability and engine efficiency made the need for 4 engines (for transatlantic flying) entirely redundant. Pity really, I like the 747, but airlines work on profit, and using a fleet of 777's or A380's is more beneficial for profit than the 747.

I booked a flight home from my overseas deployment, on a specific airline, just to be able to fly on the 747-8i. Even though it was significant more expensive :)
I'm sad to see the production has slowed but hopefully the -8 and future variants will fly for many decades to come.

I can't believe they didn't mention Joe Sutter. He is the real godfather of the 747. If it wasn't for him there wouldn't of been a 747, he was fighting for the 747 program because everyone else at Boeing only wanted a supersonic plane.

If you look at 1:10, you see the Airbus A380, but Boeing didn't like the idea of a double deck, so stop saying that the Airbus A380 is better than Boeing, Airbus took the idea from Boeing.
And besides that, Boeing is a much more old company than Airbus, so the errors that were made by Boeing in their first planes, were corrected in Airbus's first planes, and because of that people think that Airbus is better than Boeing.

Anyways are you a Boeing fan? If so we're gonna quarrel for a very long period because we won't understand each other so I leave it as it is A380 is the Queen of the sky, Boeing made the 747-8 to compete with it but it has not even sold, it will fade away with its history.
