Most of you probably saw that coming, and if you didn’t let me explain. In the end of cmbyn, Oliver calls Elio and his family to tell them he’s getting married. And yes, in the second book he’s married. What’s you expect? I haven’t read the whole book yet (I have concentration issues, especially at boring parts) so I don’t know if they do end up together, but it’s probably very unlikely. Trust me, I’m screeching inside because of this. They go very well together, but I also understand why Oliver got married. You have to remember that this was set in 1983, where homosexuality still wasn’t seen as something good AT ALL. Although Elio’s parents know what’s going on, and they sort of accept it, they don’t really speak of it at all, even at the end when Elio’s dad has a heart-to-heart conversation with him. As sad as this is, it’s life. It doesn’t always work out. Oliver’s parents may have been homophobes in this time period, so they might really have bugged him to get married, and Oliver could be closeted because of that. These are only theories, but in short; no. Elio and Oliver probably won’t end up together in the sequel (though I do believe they meet up).
