I have corrected the out-of-phase colour, tweaked the video quality a little and fixed the aspect ratio. Really just as an experiment to see if I could!

The greatest Academy Awards opening number ever! Liza made it big - she is sensational in this number!

Liza always managed to convey she was where she should be ... up there having a great time entertaining her audiences... and she did !
Used to see this tape on a regular basis promoting the Oscars, then stopped seeing it for years and years. Glad to see it resurface again, because for a long time I thought Liza WAS the Oscars, if you know what I mean: clad in black (with the long pink scarf), the male chorus, the giggles, the buoyancy, and especially the kneel downstage to little Oscar and the high kick at the end. ("That's the one!!") Perfect Minnelli performance.
Liza winning for Cabaret was the right choice. Cabaret was something else, and even though all of the nominated ladies were great in their respective roles, Liza was just beyond great.
This is my favorite performance of Liza's...love her!
