- Today we take you over to the Sea of Cortez, trading waves for snorkeling reefs and spearfishing! We spent two days in La Ventana which apparently is a popular kiteboarding spot in the winter. However, when we were there the winds were calm which let us enjoy the beach for a few days!

Nice waves! I surfed in the late 60's and still watch the waves to see what they are like. I tried a short board once, way to quick for me my last board was a Dewey Weber 9' 6" I was 125 lbs we would knee on the board to paddle. That gave us a lot more speed to catch a wave. That was nice seems like you are having a good time!!............ WoW! I like the brush never saw that for beach sand that's a great idea See you learn something new everyday!
Right!!! I used to be able to paddle on my knees but I’m too heavy now! Haha
@@MathersOnTheMap talking to kids on the Cape that are at the beach surfing it seem that the boards they are using are small for there weight and watching them it looks to me that they miss a lot of waves because they are paddling to slow. Watching you your good at it! Have you had a chance to get out on those big fat Pacific waves yet? If you get the chance to get up to San Clemente, CA stop in at Dewey Weber and take a look at their boards they have been around for a long time. Thank for the videos there well done, interesting and educational!

Kevin you need to put vinegar on your jelly fish sting, this reduces the pain immediately. In Australia, we have small stations at the beach with a bottle of vinegar in it for this exact reason or our life guards have it on hand and the public know it is there for jelly fish stings.

If you have mountain bikes, there are some great trails in the hills behind your camp. Check out the Trailforks app for details. Also there are hot springs on the beach a couple hundred yards north.
We saw the hot springs unfortunately the tide was too high!! We wish we had room for bikes but we don’t 😔! Saw a lot of people mountain biking around us tho!!

Beautiful vid guys -- great surfing, beautiful scenery, and great camera work on the 'King of the waves'. Thought I was seeing jelly-fish right away under the water - was freaking out a bit for you... hope the sting went away before too long.

Any tricks or suggestions around parking and getting on and off the beaches without getting stuck?
Get out and feel the sand before you drive on it!! If ya get stuck air down your tires and use a shovel to dig out. Max tracks, rocks, wood anything to help works as well

Any issues driving a van that big? Have you had any issues with finding good clean diesel? How far south do you plan to go?
No, no issues driving or finding diesel. I think Mexico increased the standards for diesel in 2014 and it’s all imported from the US now! Baja was it we are on our way back east for now!

Thank you!!!! Yes it’s 2WD and Nope but we inspect the sand before we drive. Vans at max GVWR.

Hey Dan welcome to our channel! It’s part of our daily routine now! If we’re driving all day we leave it in bed mode but if we’re camping out at a spot we switch it and utilize it. It’s so much better having a table then trying to work/eat on a bed
