भारत में ग्रीष्म कालीन मानसून हिंदमहासागर में उत्पन्न होकर समूचे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप को प्रभावित करता है तथा शीत कालीन मानसून उत्तरी भारत में उत्पन्न होकर पूरे भारत को प्रभावित करता है I
इसकी उत्पत्ति से सम्बंधित सिद्धन्तो को दो वर्गों में रखा जाता है I प्रथम वर्ग अर्थात तापीय या शास्त्रिय विचारो में 1886 में डेली महोदय शेरहेम महोदय ने अपना विचार दिया I
दूरे वर्ग में फ़्लान महोदय ने ग्रीष्म कालीन एवं शीत कालीन दोनों मानसून की उत्पत्ति का कारण ITCZ के स्थानांतरण को माना I 1991 पी.कोटेश्वरम ने उपरी वायुमंडलीय पुर्वी जेट को भी सम्मिलित किया 1972 में मोनेक्स द्वारा वैज्ञानिक रूप से स्थापित किया गया I
Indian summer monsoon originates in Indian Ocean and affect Indian sub-continent while winter monsoon originates in North India and affects India. Regarding it's origin there are two groups of theories, first is Thermal or classical where in 1886 Delley in 1948 sherhg propounded their ideas. In second group is dynamic theories flow in 1951 proposed an idea of shifting of ITCZ is the root cause of origin of summer and winter monsoon in India. In 1952 P. Koteswarm added upper atmospheric easterly jets in origin of monsoon which was late on in 1972 scientifically certified by Monex.
