  • The SYL 960 will allow any videographer to take professional looking videos for a fraction of the price of a standard track dolly. However, lower price does not mean lower quality. The Glide Gear SYL 960 is of comparable quality with more expensive dollies available in the market, and has unique features that make it even better!
Made of aircraft grade 6061 aluminum alloy anodized to very tight tolerances, it is lightweight but extremely durable. It is capable of bearing rigs up to 35 lb although the dolly itself only weighs a few pounds. It is also highly portable, foldable to fit into a convenient carry bag so you can easily bring it anywhere. The SYL 960 is also versatile because it can be converted into a rolling camera dolly using the regular swivel wheel castors included in the kit and the legs can be extended up to 5 inches longer to accommodate wider tracks.
But perhaps more important than its strength and portability, the SYL 960 has the unique advanced sliding swivel wheel system that is not only capable of full 360° turns but the wheel housing can freely slide up to 1 inch, so uneven surfaces of up to 2 inches has no effect on the smoothness of the SYL 960 operation. Each swivel track wheel assembly comes with four track wheels (4 wheels) for maximum stability and each castor wheel has the 360° swivel and locking mechanism. These track wheels are made for movement along a track; it enables contact with the most track surface area possible. Other competing products use roller blade wheels which are not designed to be on tracks and are less stable.

Can you tell me what size the hex bolt head is or where I can find that specialized open end wrench? I'm getting your wheels to convert my dolly but can't get those standard wheels off. Thanks!

Did you figure it out by now? I’m pretty sure you have… but if not, On my micrometer the bolt is 15.84mm (so maybe 16mm)while the wrench reads 17mm.. the wrench is not tight on the bolt at all but it’s close enough to do the job. Hope that helps, or if not that it would help someone else with your same issue.

@@elseptimo77 Appreciate the response! I actually did manage to figure it out & didn't end up needing the wrench at all. The original wheels were lockable and that actually let me twist them off the thread by turning the locked wheel so it was way easier than I was making it. Go figure.

can you lock those track rollers to force the dolly in a straight line or perhaps in an arc without the need for tracks?

The track wheels can not be locked into a straight line. Once they are locked they are immovable. You would need a track or very steady hands to move the dolly freely while the wheels are unlocked.

@@GLIDEGEAR It actually works but another thing was adjusting the wheels as they weren’t quite sitting perfect.. that part can be a bit tricky to get right and it took me a bit as it’s not as easy to get right like on the DEV4 but I did get it to stop the squealing.. thanks again for the suggestion
