  • I recently had someone reach out asking for various information on farming in Paraguay, here are 8 questions that I answer in this video.
1, know what they feed the cows, seen corn but no alfalfa so far,
2, is it harder to deal with the heat, than with the cold in Canada, to keep cows milking
3, how is the milk price determined, supply and demand? or set by government etc?,
4, how much land is needed per cow?,
5, are there auction sales, or how are cattle bought and sold,
6 how are the regulations out there compared to Canada?
7, general pro and cons being a dairy farmer in Paraguay, compared to Canada,
8, what is the average size of farms in the area

Hi Frieda, Very good video, thank you! Do you know if GMO corn is fed to cattle in Paraguay and if glyphosate is used on the corn? I'm highly allergic to this herbicide and this might explain why I couldn't even eat ice cream (among a lot of other things) there when I visited a month ago, without getting sick..

I Can't say for certain, but I do believe it is GMO corn and I don't know what type of herbicide is used. Do you have the same effects if you consume goat dairy instead? One thing we've noticed is that goat milk is hard to come by, but a great product for people that get negative reaction from cow milk.

@@Frieda_Wiebe Maybe because I get my dairy products here in BC from smaller farms that sell through health food stores, but I don't react to the dairy here. Often, it will say if the cheese, for example, is grass fed, where they don't seem to use poison in the production. We do get some goat cheese and milk.As you say, this is usually a better choice but kind of hard to find here too. By the way, I think it's a great idea you have, having an import business in Paraguay and I would have loved to have visited your shop when I was there. Do you have a website for it yet?

Does GMO corn all need glyphosate?
I did read that farmers there have free choice in using GMO or non gmo. Think the bulk buyers may make some destinction between the two....price differences would be interesting to know.

@@christinasirr7138 we don’t have our website up yet as our company is very new still and other things still need to come into fruition before it will really become needed.
The issue with non GMO products is that the price go up drastically, therefore there wouldn’t be any demand in the Paraguayan market.
