Hooray for me! I got my slow-down-the-E-4’s-looper idea to work using stuff I already had around the house.. Here’s my setup:
Roland Aira E-4->Twin Looper pedal->Behringer UMC404HD Audio Interface->XLR inputs of two Fender Acoustasonic guitar amps for stereo. The Twin Looper is less than $60 at Amazon, sometimes cheaper.
No radio interference this time, although the sound muddies up a bit on some looped SCATTER patterns, when I drastically slow the Twin Looper’s playback speed . It seems to have maybe 8 detented slow speed settings, so I’m a happy camper. (I was really only trying out my old Twin Looper to see if I wanted to spend big bucks on an EHX 720 loop pedal. The 720 has only a single 1/2 speed setting, however, so maybe not.)
If I write a hit song using a riff generated by the SCATTER effect, do I need to give Roland Corp. co-writer's credit?

    can you overdub audio looping?

Yes, you can overdub multiple times over the looper. We've noticed that about 5 overdubs is fine, but then the audio quality starts to degrade as you keep adding more than 5 or 6 dubs.Hope that's helpful!

Is it possible to vary the looper's playback tempo without syncing to another device? (I'd like to slow down some of the SCATTER patterns.)

As far as we've tried, once you've set the tempo in the looper and started adding new loops over the top etc. you can no longer change the tempo. Another option might be to access more scatter controls as follows: To access another 18 banks of SCATTER effects for a wide range of variations, hold AUTO-PITCH and turn the SCATTER knob.

@@electronicmusicpedagogy Thanks for your quick response. There's a guitar looper pedal or two in my collection that allows me to slow down playback by 1/4 or 1/2 speed--while changing the pitch--to let a guitar record the bass part. I was idly hoping there might be a button/slider combination on the E-4 that might provide similar control. Maybe I need to record the E-4's looper output with another stereo looper pedal and slow it down there.
I had been experimenting with the SCATTER banks (Bank 5 is cool.), and I'll continue on the hunt for tempo control there. I also have an 8-step CV Sequencer, but I haven't gotten it to work with the E-4 yet.

@@electronicmusicpedagogy Unforeseen results: I just tried connecting the E-4's headphone output to the aux input on a Hotone acoustic simulator pedal. The E-4 in that configuration was unusable, because very loud mariachi music from a local radio station began coming through my two guitar amps. I assumed my TRS cable was shielded, I guess I should have spent more than $6 at Amazon and got a better cable.

@@FrogCabin-in5wd haha! Brilliant unforeseen results there 😅
