For a kid who's taken the bus downtown in Mpls tons of times, this video is awesome. My love goes out to all the people who helped create this music and everything else. One of my favorite albums and soundtracks to life.
EDIT: Since I first watched this video, I started listening to Brother Ali on almost every bus ride thereafter. I came back here cause of the nostalgia I felt listening to some other tracks. Damn. I moved out of MN after 20 years, due to family problems, and even though I'm doing good, Brother Ali's music makes me miss home. I'm just glad that the memories are attached to these vibes.
Can't wait to see Ali and Bambu hit the stage in Boston! :)

I've been listening to a lot of Bro. Ali the last month or so. Had never heard of him until Pandora played "Picket Fence" and I've heard every album he's made since. I'm a huge fan. If he ever comes around my part of the US I'll be sure to buy a ticket for the concert. Hell, I'd just like to meet the brotha, shake his hand and tell him how much I appreciate his type of hip hop.
This will be the first album i will have bought since 2001...I dont want this download, i want the real cd. Its an honor to have Brother Ali speak the truth.

Saw him on day two of his tour in Santa Ana if you have a chance to see him don't miss it. Homeboy Sandman was a pleasant surprise I hadn't heard him before and I was impressed. Also amazing to hear Brother Ali with a live band

It's the "Stone Arch Bridge" Downtown Minneapolis Mills City Distric, it overlooks the St. Anthony Damn managed by the Army Corp. of Engineers. Stone Arch Bridge is just aprox 700 yards north of the I 35 bridge that collapsed in '07.

I've heard a few people tell me that Macklemore sounds like him. Haha surprisingly, though, Macklemore's first album is ridiculously conscious and the vibes are strong. A gem from the indie/underground hip-hop community. Just check out the songs "City Don't Sleep", "White Privilege", "Contradiction". Hell, none of the songs really fall short on that album. His newer stuff isn't as great.

Damn , all you need, hit hard, my wife went through almost exactly that, minus burning the kid with hot water, but with added stress of her husband dieing, kids in foster care for the last 12 years , the foster parents wont let her see her daughter (even though they said they would) , were waiting until shes old enough to be on her own. My wife was also in foster care and it wasn't pleasant .

Tried to buy today, but both of my local record stores (Sonic Boom/Easy Street in Seattle) told me the vinyl release date was pushed back to October? To top it off, the album also isn't up on Spotify! I'm glad it's up on CZcams now, but y'all made it hard for me to check out today... Hope the record stores were wrong about the vinyl being pushed back to next month.
