Now speaking of engine options and launch control, this baby VW SUV little is actually one of the faster models in its class. It’s powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that puts out a respectable 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, more than the comparable Hyundai Kona’s 147 horsepower. The Taos’ compact 1.5-liter engine will get you to 60 mph in a surprisingly quick 7.8 seconds, if you use the Launch control, a feature you might not expect on an SUV in this class.
