I bet most of the viewers did not last until the very end when after the handshake, the Austrians skated near one of the nets to celebrate with their fans but... The Hungarian fans in the neighbouring sector started singing the anthem for their players. Many of the Hungarian players could not hold their tears. Austrian players and especially their fans immediately stopped making any noise and let their rivals peacefully enjoy this special moment. Only after the Hungarians were done, the Austrians proceeded with the celebration ritual. I have to congratulate both teams and their supporters. This was an epic battle, and this was the etalone of sportsmanship! Whoever says that the matches from the bottom of the tables are not worth watching, or that these teams do not belong to the elite group, is outright stupid! Many teams from the upper part of the ladder should actually learn from you. Austria, see you next year! And Hungary, I hope you are back ASAP - we need your fighting spirit and we need your fans! Right!!! It was a real tight battle against our Hungarian friends and reading that also this scene after the match got recognized makes me even more proud beeing an Austrian Hockey Fan! This was a great game, unfortunately the Hungarians lost (I was rooting for them with my whole heart), however the Hungarian supporters have won the true gold medal for the most passionate fans this tournament (expect Latvian fans of course) I hope in two years time Hungary can come back to the elite division due to the powerful fan base!💪🇭🇺 Much love to them, and respect from Latvia 🇱🇻🤝🇭🇺
I wasn´t watching the game but I think I will watch the replay. This game looked like a rollercoaster ride. Hungarian fans and Latvians are so fiery this year, wow. Good games neighbours.
This was a good game. Austria deserved it a little more, but Hungary overall gave a good effort. I also wanna point out Hungary has improved since the last time they were in this division. I rooted for Hungary but they were not playing well, and Austria is a pretty weak team. It looked like they're lacking speed, scared to shoot the puck. They should've grabbed this opportunity because it might not come back anytime soon.
