I'm telling myself, "Okay, this will be the last time." as I press replay yet again. I don't understand the language but the music has gripped my soul.
This Sipho song speaks to me at so many levels, and not just a loved one being murdered, but the many pains we experience in our societies, which kills so much inside of us. It's true music is the cuts that some bleed through
I’m Brazilian (mixed of black, native and white). I am fair skinned, but it’s like I always identify stronger with black culture. That being said, every time I hear this group, it’s like I enter a hypnotic state. It’s like… like I missed this sound, this song I never heard before. But I miss it. And I cry! I feel like crying, like I was separated from someone important I never got to see again. Now all I have left are those voices… why do I feel like this? I can’t stop crying…
I literally just said the same thing on a other African song. Because an African American said THE SAME THING in the comments. Whenever I talk to other African Americans and we hear music from the Motherland we say the same thing... It's like we have always known this sound, but we never heard it before.... But its like our blood remembers... It makes me cry soooooo much!!! I cry because I realize that someone I never met used to walk on the beaches, stand in the grass, and smile with their family in Africa. My ancestors... My blood... At some point, someone in my past was NOT a slave...they were free... And THIS is what it sounds like to be free.... It makes me weep. Because I finally feel like I understand myself hearing it, but I have so many questions...so much has been lost... And I just want to go to Africa at least once and put my bare feet on the ground and take one breath of the air... Just to know what it's like to be home, finally 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😭😭😭😭😭
Omg.... Really thought it was just me.... Every time I hear songs like this it's like I've heard it before but I know I haven't and yes I too cry because I feel like I'm missing something there is something that I Miss dearly.... I just don't know what it is 😭😭 thank you so much for sharing these comments. And those who feel like this😔 know that you're not alone❤❤❤

The drum adds a gunshot effect and a melancholic element that resonates with the harmony of the choir and the leaders' powerful voices. This is beautiful.
The 4 people that led this have so much power in their voices it’s amazing, and once they’re harmonizing together🤯. The choir is breathtaking. This entire experience is beautiful
@nobom The song is supposed to be simple and open to interpretation, Daliwonga's version stays true to the song, this version is in my opinion too much lyrically!! Igwijo is not supposed to be added to, and if you do you better not do to much - I get where they are trying to go with this version but its just too much - Im sorry, Daliwonga's version is still the best version I have heard
I don't understand anything they are saying but I have listened to this 6 times as of right now. This is amazing. I wish I had the power to put them in a studio and broadcast their voices to the world. This was breathtaking, touches your soul

The sis in the Butterfly tshirt with dreadlocks!!! You are a NATURAL ntombi yhooooo🔥🔥 The whole performance was heartfelt, absolutely talented young artists ❤

It's a song about losing your sibling. Sipho my mother's child. They killed him with a gun without doing anything wrong. They killed him with a gun in front of my mother. My mother is crying. She goes on to say who is going to speak up for them now? He was her mother's hope. And how he was brutally murdered for no reason. You actually connect with the song. It’s about a brother who was killed having done nothing wrong. This is a lament.
