The man behind the popular restaurant is a renowned Kampala businessman, Ahmed Omar Mandela, one of Uganda's most influential and wealthiest individuals.

is a chain of coffee houses with its head office at ABC Place in Nairobi, Kenya, founded in 1999 by Kevin Ashley and Jon Wagner. It is one of the few places where one can find "export-quality" Kenyan coffee brewed and served in the region.
The Java brand is also the owner of Italian pizza chain 360 Degrees Pizza and the first ever East African self-service frozen yoghurt store, Planet Yogurt.
The Java coffee house says its annual revenue has hit Sh3 billion following rapid expansion in the country.

The number of people who own franchises and fast food restaurants on the list of billionaires is significant. These people don’t lift a finger and whine about paying their workers while in an hour sitting at a desk they make as much as their employees in a year.

Anyone who is upset that California fast food workers at major national chains will start earning $20/hr needs to realize that the minimum wage would actually be at least $24/hr if it had been raised at the same pace as productivity gains since the 1960s.
