- I can't believe this hidden gem in Southern Thailand near Phuket and Krabi is not more popular.
Koh Panyee is one of the most fascinating places I've ever seen. It's a Muslim village that floats on water, and it's located in Southern Thailand near Phuket and Krabi. Descended from three families from Java Indonesia, the residents of Koh Panyee have built their homes on stilts above the water, creating a stunning landscape that must be seen to be believed.
I went and spent the night on the Island as the only tourist and share with you my experience here. Hope that you enjoy it!

This is an amazing and informative video about Koh Panyee. I did go there on day trips from Ao Nang and Phuket as part of the James Bond Tour and I have got to see most of the island including the mosque which I went in (being a Muslim from the UK myself) - the mosque is beautiful and I agree that the market place remind of souks in some of the Arab-speaking countries as well as bazaars in Turkey

At 5:40 that mountain surface looks too circular and too flat and looks to have been cut that way in ancient time but not by nature rather by some beings

Sunni Majority, its difficult to find Shia in southern Thailand
Im Thai Muslims around that area so i got a chance to visit the Island quite often
