  • This is an unabridged recording of Japanese Tea Ceremony. There are many schools of tea that teach The Way of Tea, Chado or Chanoyu in Japanese. In this video I'm showing the ritual performed in accordance with Urasenke teaching.
Chawan Kazari is the serving of thick tea when there is a connection between the host and guest through the chawan.

    Notes about style/choices
    Hishaku
I hang the hishaku inside the mouth with this kama. Since I'm using an eletric ro I can't adjust the hight of the kama, and I think it becomes to high if I rest it on the kama shoulder. It is also hard with this type of kama to say what placement is correct. since it isn't a proper uba-guchi, nor does it have a proper lip that goes up.
    Disclaimer:
This is NOT an official movie by Urasenke and has been created independent of Urasenke.

Thank you! The calming atmosphere is one of the main reason I do tea. It is a form of meditation for me.

Great! Another one for the world of students and non-students. Marius, one thought, in my practice I answer the questions about the story related to the tea bowl, while the bowl is still on the kobukusa on the haiken tatami. The bowl is taken back to imae after carrying on the discussion. This is how I was taught many years back. Perhaps the new literature indicates another approach. Is this so?
