Sunday driving in St. Petersburg, Russia's second largest city. Relatively not much traffic for the weekend and it is partly cloudy, as it is difficult to catch a fully sunny day.
Each of the architectures in St. Petersburg is beautiful like a piece of art. And, St. Petersburg is like a gigantic museum or palace where the each of these architectures is like an art exhibit.
Mi esposo y yo visitamos este lugar en 1984 cuando entonces se llamaba Leningrado y era precioso, nos encantó, ahora viendo el video revivimos aquel momento. 😊
Man, it's so bizarre to look at all these places that I know so well, the streets I've walked across so many times in my life, from a computer screen, like, it's such an amazing experience.
Interesting... After a few weeks I will go to St. Petersburg and will likely rent a car. I am familiar with driving in big cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Berlin, Cologne (Köln), Paris, Brussels, Flemish cities (Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Brugge)). This video gives me a good impression how it will be like, although my first trip will likely be from Pulkovo Airport to Nevksij Prospekt (Невский Проспект). From there I may go to Winter Palace (Зимний Дворец) and Царское Село.
In January I have been in Moscow. It was between -8 and +1 degree (one day it was pretty warm). I notice that I am not very sensitive to cold. -8 degrees don't do much to me, especially when I am walking with a certain speed. I drove when it was -11 degrees and much snow in The Netherlands. I have to drive carefully if there is snow. If there is almost no snow, I drive faster.
The ratio of women to men walking on those sidewalks is astonishing. I knew that this is a university town with lots of students, but man it must be amazing being a young man in this city ;)
Specially during the mating season when the female homo sapiens lock their horns in battles trying to win the mate who is probably wasted on the floor of his room from excessive vodka.
Well, yes, the rest of the cities are of the Soviet past, but it seems that now they want to demolish all the panels. And new areas are developing, and new roads have been built.

St P is a beautiful city overall, but IMHO it has the typical Eastern Europe city atmosphere: sad and gloomy, dark in broad daylight ... it's almost unavoidable ...

I taught English in Saint Petersburg for 3 years. Thanks for the memories!

The roads are by far better than during the Soviet era when I visited back in the late 1980's.
Amazing city💔
Merci de montrer certains aspects assez méconnus de cette très belle ville.

С введением зон платной парковки стало красивее, чище и организованнее. Очень большой контраст с этим видео трёхлетний давности
I'll visit StP at some day, want to walk a lot there... but wow it seems huge.
San Petersburgo, La ciudad más hermosa del mundo)))

For a big city, it seems really spread out. Like NYC people are packed like sardines in the street
Wow! I was there!

You can just expect more traffic jams due to snowfall and poorly clean roads. However, the beautiful snowy winter has already begun😊
