  • This is an introductory video to the Hurst Spit to Lymington Project. The Environment Agency is working in partnership with New Forest District Council, Hampshire County Council, Natural England and JBA Consulting to explore a sustainable future regarding the risk from flooding and coastal erosion between Hurst Spit and Lymington.
This project aims to investigate if, and how, we can respond to the significant challenges this coastline is facing now and into the future. It will also look at how to fund any potential future works.
The project is in its very early stages and it will take several years to develop ideas and options through engagement and consultation before any final scheme is proposed.

Why not involve English Heritage? They 'look after' Hurst Castle and should have done more to protect the Castle to avoid the recent collapse.

In 2 years from now there wont be a Hurst castle left to protect at the rate that it is currently being claimed by the sea.

Anything left to the Environment Agency will not end well. They seen to be completely unaware that having issued abstraction licences they have a public duty to act to enforce them.Instead they just put breaches down as minor and refuse to do anything realistic about it irrespective.Even more determined to be self-regulating when it comes to water companies pumping millions of gallons of sewage into the water courses annually.Nice work if you look at the sort of money they pay themselves.
