  • We went on a road trip and picked up a Blackhawk Model C walk behind tractor. This is a quite rare machine. Mine came with a plow and some other parts.
After some research online I found that this most likely has a 1947 Briggs and Stratton 2 HP engine. There is not much information out there about this particular machine that I found so far.
These were either sold at a co-op near Michigan and the surrounding states and went by the name of Blackhawk walk behind tractor or it was made in Canada by the Cockshutt company and labeled Model C.
I am still looking up information about this machine.
I hope to use it to plow my garden and fields. If it works well, I can sell my garden tiller and use this instead.

Those are neat little tractors. I had one a few years ago and sold it. I wish I would have kept it. It had a original adjustable blade on the front of it. I pushed a lot of snow with it. It had wheel weights and I made a set of tire chains for it. The only thing that I remember not liking about it was when I would hit something solid with the blade it would jerk over and the handles would whack you if you didnt pay attention lol. You will have a ton of uses for that tractor. Best of luck! p.s. the side mounted plug is because the david bradleys originally came with a bullet shaped hood that you could tilt back to access the engine.

He has not been doing very well so he has not been around the homestead at all sadly. He has not even been able to explore the place due to lack of strength.

definitely not junk. those old machines will out run any new junk you get these days. their made to be repaired and not thrown away in a couple years. good find.

you are correct. in the right hands they last forever. but all the machines you see on this channel fell in the hands of a hoarder and will never run again, sadly.

Ye olde garden tractor. You walk to the right of the plowshare when going forward. The disc needs a seat for riding on that gang. The gas powered horse for the hobby farmer no feed to buy and just gas and oil. Could even use motor on buzz saw when you find a belt drive pulley for that Briggs.

I have a Troy Bilt Horse 2. Its a great tiller, unfortunately not a PTO model I'd love to get one of the PTO Horse Tillers and the attachments someday.
