- This 1970 Chevelle SS396 has been parked in the Florida swamp since 1980. The owner claims he rebuilt the engine just before he parked the car. The reason it was never driven again is really unknown.
Holding the title on their death bed... "I'm going to fix it one day!"
It wasn't stored...it was left to die.
I DIDN'T MEAN TO STEAL YOUR LINE ROUGHLY I SAID THE SAME
He rebuilt the motor, then chucked it in the swamp??..... alright alright alright
Remember, back in 1980, cars from the 70's and older weren't even close to that age where they were collectable. Thus, people didn't give two shits what happened to them or what they did to them. And that goes for any vehicle brand then... just think why a 68 charger is rare cause if that TV show... I'm assuming you know what I'm referring to lol
@Stoneyburke ?
Not the Kevin!!😊
I just dont understand how you own a muscle car and park it in the weeds for 40 years and let it rot away.. No less with I believe I seen keys in the ignition.SMH!
Something tells me it's not going anywhere.
back in the day the cars were like cars today not many thought about this car was going to be sought after it was just a old car junk it get a new one. My Father had nice cars growing up and he would drive them and sell them or junk them he said if he knew those cars were going to be worth anything he would of kept them but at the time it like having a 10 year old car today when it breaks just buy a new one. I was not until the 90's people started to realize these things are worth something.
In 20 years, they will be parking Porsche GT-3's and Lamborghini's in the weedy swamps, and the prodigy of Patrick Glenn Nichols will find them and report back to us.
@@angrycatowner or Toyota Prius's 👀
@@79tazman the movie Christine kinda relates to that because the movie was made in 1982 and everyone hated that 58 fury that the kid was driving because it wasn't sought after yet until today.
It blows my mind that these cars are left like this. I remember friends having cars just like this in high school in the late 70's early 80's and they even knew at that time how important these cars where then.
Yeah . But I remember a time when this car would be 1300$ -running . And worked at a wrecking yard and we paid "up to" 100$ and go pick these up and part them out and crush the left overs .WHAT were we thinking ? !
@@jefffothergill2685 bet you've got some interesting stories to tell...what did you crush?
I like the ole dog watching you. It’s ok at day light but don’t come back at night!! Yelp he has teeth and bites !! Thanks for sharing another barns find . !! Love how you share documentation of how see was built!!!!
So damn sad to see such a beautiful and complete car sitting like this!!! Thank you for showing these as sad as it is to watch!
Anyone who would own a classic like this and not take 3 seconds of their time to even close the hood doesn't deserve it period! But im sure like most of these cars that are found the conversation with the owner would go something like ....
Looker: Hey, you interested in getting rid of this car?
Owner: Nope, gonna fixer up.
Rinse/repeat conversation over the years until the car literally rots to the ground.
I can show you at least 3 cases of this happening around my area where one of them actually has a small tree growing inside of it. Owner has been "gonna fixer up" for 30 years now.
For whatever reason these people have no real intention of fixing up anything, but they can't stand the thought of someone else actually doing something with it.
The dogs scare me more then the rust! Also Florida weather is the worst weather by far on a car that sets outside. The rain is like pouring rust from the sky. Probably was a sharp car in 1980. Cool video as always Patrick👍
The dog scares you? Do you have a problem with dogs or is it a phobia?
This is not a piece to be turned into yard art. I'm seriously frustrated watching this
And been sitting since 1980 for Christ's sake.
I'm pissed off in fact no respect for this beauty
@@5luggin how awesome would it be to unload this thing in your driveway and give it the respect she deserves.... My 70 SS was actually worse for wear.. but this one didn't deserve it
@@christolbert4628 these people must be out of touch brother.
I can’t see these anymore 😡
SAD !!
Let me guess , he won`t part with it .
So sad!!!! My 1st car was a 70 Chevelle I bought for 500 bucks in 79’ but it wasn’t a SS, I would love to have it now. Awesome job finding these gems love your channel.
This is what makes me mad ,when there's nothing wrong with it ,and you just put a new motor in it ,and just park it outside ,with the hood up mind ya for no obvious reason whatsoever ,it's 1 thing for a mom ,dad ,or wife to park a deceased owners car but when the owner does it ,that's just sad
I can hear the pain in your voice Patrick.
Yeah. ..me too
It's sad. Glad he is doing this and not me !
This is starting to be more common nowadays.😢
Chris Daniel well yes, because as you know people are now turning their attention to modern muscle cars, I mean, come on, 770 hp from the dodge heck-cat?
You are the master of finding these gems. Thanks for sharing
I will never understand how somebody could just leave something like this just rotting away. Really frustrating to see .
Thanks Patrick for pissing me off. SMH.
Ronald S pass a law if you can’t fix it then it gets donated... that will make people sell them
Great videos, I retired after 30 years at the Doraville Georgia GM assemble plant., I know your viewers probably know where Atlanta is located but the Atlanta GM plant to me was always the Lakewood Plant. Sadly they are both closed today and the buildings demolished.
Danny Hillhouse amazing do you own a Chevelle or classic car?
Thank you for making these videos...i know it takes time and effort on your part and i love seeing 70 chevelles in any condition, i wish i could afford to fix cars like this one ,its sad to see a legendary car just wasting away.
Amazing to see the keys are still in the ignition Patrick. Thanks for sharing.
at least he saved it from being sold for scrap, when he parked it the steel in it was worth almost as much as the cars value!
Patrick Glen, just wanted to say thank you for doing an excellent job on your videos - always thorough, accurate, and greatly respectable to the owners of the vehicles. Thank you for always being on your A-game. Keep up the good work bud
Would be a good parts car, but he is going to fix it soon. He is going to keep it because he got his first piece of tail in it. Well some kind of story like that. Keep up the hunting, love your coverage of these great cars!!!
Giggity giggity goo ga!
Sad to see, sometimes these videos really hurt to watch, dont get me wrong I love what you Patrick it just hurts to see what an owner can and will do to a car. If that hood was that bad I doubt much of the rest of the body was much better and you know the floors are long gone. Ouch!
When did Matthew McConaughey learn so much about classic cars ? Impressive !
...Save it your a smooth talker. Get it bought 👍🏼
Pgn, gators, snakes, what you do to find us these cars is amazing!!LOL!! Great video!!!
More interesting than a shiny resto job could ever be. Love it! I hope the snakes enjoy it.
Another great look! Appreciate you and the work you do to bring these cars to us.
I feel like crying . I have a 70 Chevelle NOT A REAL SS . And this just makes me sick . It needs to be saved .
Better than nothing lol
" A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH " ..... BLACK CHERRY ..... THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR EXPERIENCES MR PATRICK . Most appreciated 👍 . Have a great day !
Mr. Nichols, Your videos are very Education, and extremely Sensational. GREAT WORK, SIR............
Keystone classic wheels. Remember them well.
Hey Matthew McConaughey, this was a great video
I thought the same lol
Really why do some people just leave cars out in the element without any protection?
Because there are some people that would rather just watch it "rot to the ground" than ever part with it....just so they can say that they own a '70 Chevelle SS396..... Just stupid.
Mustang gang 5.0 well at least my mom left her 69’ Volkswagen in her garage for 40 years. The engine froze, not even the wheels turn. But at least it was protected from the elements.
It's called mental illness or depression. I had a lot of nice things that I let go because of depression.
Rust in peace 😥😥
The humidity got this one thirty years sgo.
TOTAL GARBAGE! Not good for Anythang but a new Toyota for Jan's lot!!
@@tonyfriend7413 I totally disagree!
You are doing a great job finding these cars
your videos are enjoyable but they can also be sad...like this one
No kidding
Nice find, great video!
What a DAMN WASTE!!!!! People or Individuals who do this should be horse whipped and the dragged thru the streets!!!!!! I tried to buy a 1967 GTO in 1981 while I was living in Pensacola, Fla. It was in a fenced in yard....weeds growing around it....it was sinking into the ground....I talked to the owners Dad....The Dad wouldn't sell it...since his son was killed in Vietnam! I understand the sentiment....but I promised him I would bring it by after I got it running.....he still wouldn't sell it....As far as I know....all these years later....it was might have been finally sold... although it was probably a basket case or it was sold for Scrap.....What a WASTE!!!!!!
Would have been a nice color combo back in the day..👍
What a disgrace for that car to be left out there like that for so long
While watching, I prefer to hear Patrick's dialogue to his videos as if its Matthew McConaughey narrating, and that in all of these videos he arrived in that very same 70 SS from Dazed and Confused....(kidding you Patrick, you do a great job narrating, you are VERY entertaining)....alright alright alright. Love your videos Patrick. I subbed you brother. Maybe someday i could trouble you to help me document my 69 SS396 car, i've owned it since 79 and i am the 3rd owner, behind the original owner and a guy who bought it to flip it and only owned it for a few months. Take care brother Chevelle enthusiast.
Really sad to see it just rusting away !!!
Now their to lazy to close the hood , they could have rolled up the windows ,these are the best Chevelles and they didn't want to restore them won't be long till someone sets it on fire
@@edwardalamo2507 , when ya gonna torch it pyro. ?
Very sad I love cars I love these kind of videos keep up the good work it's always fun to see things like this you don't get a chance thanks for the good cry
Crazy! If only cars could talk! I have a few cars that I know of in GA I have been wanting to learn more about and would be right up your alley. I know of two Chevelle’s and an impala on the same lot. Have been there quite some time without moving. Owner of the property died and I’m still investigating who is in charge currently. Have been wanting to write a letter and drop it off to see what the deal is with the vehicles in the yard
My level of irritation watching this is over 9000...
Damn 1980 that's the year I was born smh what a waist
waste
Sad to see !, thanks for the great video!
some are repairable..sadly not this one...bummer.
PATRICK, IMPRESSIVE WORK ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF THESE CARS!... YOUVE CERTAINLY DONE YOUR HOMEWORK 📚!... KEEP’EM COMING OLD MATE!! 😁🤙
My dad was the second owner of this car. His first cousin was thhe origional owner. My dad sold it to the current owner in 79 or 80 for $600. Dad offered to buy it back when i was in high school a few times but the owner refuses to sell.
The dude parked it because it was old & outdated for 1980. Plus where would you find aftermarket parts for it in 1990s. That missing back glass would be an instant ticket in Florida.
It would've been only ten yrs old. That's not even a long time! Just shows how materialistic people are.
Car is bad ass!! I had a '70 with a 307/pg. Sure, grandma compared to this but set of $50 headers and mufflers helped.
Man I'm getting old, a 70 chevelle SS discarded, oh the lack of respect.
Keys still in it.... Am sick 😭
What a shame a brand new 396 he put it in and tossed out to rot the hood is open with nothing covering the carb so the engine is full of water from all the rain and the window down so there is no floor left and frame is most likely toast there ain't much left of that car what a damn shame
I'd do it to a prius... Sorry but I don't ever see em going up in value... I could be wrong...
man, that was just a car guys dream. sometimes just breaks my heart. Thanks for the find. What's in your collection?
.....and it's not for sale!!😰
Please keep us updated on this car, the other one you showed us,the red one, someone was able to buy it after you showed it to us on here. I hope that happens with this one too
R.I.P.
It made my eyes bleed!
I'm here in Ontario Canada and ran across a couple 70 Chevelles the other day one looks to be a SS and the other was a Chevelle but the first thing I thought of was you I did not get a video of them but I know where they are and I'm going to go back up and get a video of them when I can
Needs to be saved.nothing gets me more upset seeing these classic cars left to rot.
Owner swears it's not that bad, and gonna get somedayed.........you should put in for combat pay, unpaved Florida ain't no joke
People who have these cars and do this to them should be ashamed of themselves !!!! For its time this car was king of the street !!!!
That's too saad that a Chevelle only lasted 10 years, then he had to replace to the engine, and then it had to be scrapped.
Frame is all scaled out!
Out and out shame .....I love all your videos brother .. you must be able to smell out these classics ... Just hate to see all these beauties wasting away...
The saddest part of this is it'll be there for another 40 years. What a damn shame.
~Rust in peace~
What a mess. You can't fix stupid.
Such a shame that people leave these to rot. Savable if you have a nice wad of cash and a couple of years to wait for it. Way to much metal to replace.
That Legend should be dragged out of there and brought back to life! My dream car!
Awesome find!
Even though I'm a die-hard Ford man, seeing stuff like this is SOOO frustrating but at the same time I realize that to most people it was never anything more than a more powerful mode of transportation....
What a shame. I know it's his car, & he can do what he wants with it. Why take something of value & let it turn into something with little to no value?
Good they left the hood up and window down so the engine could air out and stay dry preventing any rust removal and the interior could stay in near perfect condition during the upcoming restoration.
Sad to see a true 1970 Chevelle SS in that kind of condition. Great video really enjoy watching your channel.
Sad to know this car once rolled off the assembly line brand spanking new . and look where it ended up.
Awwww poor car! 😯
Disgusting that anyone would do this to any classic vehicle from any era. New fresh motor, no air cleaner, hood up for how long? Rains a bit in Florida? Shred it
It’s amazing any of these old musclecar survived through the 70s with the gas prices and emissions and insurance rates you couldn’t give away these cars back then
What a damn shame to let that car like that rot
I think if you tried to move that car , it would disintegrate .
Even after realizing or being told the car is very valuable, they still leave them out in the wide open sun and rain.
Why do people do this???
Been meaning to restore it one day.
just to remind y'all there was a fuel crisis in the 70's. Many muscle cars were parked and neglected by owners simply because the gas was expensive and sometimes hard to get. I know of several high performance engines were removed and mundane low horsepower turds put in. One in particular off hand was a 1963 Impala SS 409 425 horse 4 speed was replaced with a 283 2 barrel powerglide
Snakes !! That body looks solid ..what a gem ..what a shame.
Truly a shame, car was only 10 yrs old when parked, 8 track in the dash was after market Audiovox, such a sad thing not to protect it, I have GTO in my neighborhood, sitting in a woman's driveway Day 2 car, lady that owns the house won't sell it, looks like a 66, word is it belonged to someone in her family that didn't come back from Vietnam, it's been sitting over 40 yrs turned to junk
Back in the 80s as a kid i did landscaping. One of our customers, a very nice older lady had a 73 S-3 light green Chevelle in her garage with under a thousand miles on the clock, her son bought it new in 72,drove it until he went to Vietnam and was killed there, such a sad but unfortunately common story. My family ironically bought the house that backed hers many years later while I was away in the service doing my hitch,i never discovered what became of it though. ▪☆☆☆▪
Yeah its bad, but if it hadn't been parked there in 1980 it likely wouldn't exist at all today
Do you think the rust has taken over and the shell is no good? if not, what would your professional purchase price estimate be?
I know you all jumped when that white hairy snake ran across the screen, towards the end.
Disgusting to see a car parked like this with keys in it and forgotten about!
There has to be something wrong with the owner. There is no way any one should let that beautiful car die if tight on cash sell it. It's sad to see that Chevelle like that.
Love the videos, but really hard to watch.😟
Once an awesome car, now iron dust :-(
Very nice video
I'll never understand those people that just leave these cars to rot in the sun.
