- I use my Xperia 1 IV as my daily driver. I have been using Ithis device for almost 6 Mos now, and here's my take. ask questions down in the comment section, and I'll try my best to answer them. Thanks for watching.

What a nice, eloquent review. Nice video all around. You deserve more subscribers.
I am using it until now and I am love it so so much!!!!
Great review thanks, I'm really looking forward to the next version that will be announced on May 10th.
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope they'll make it available in the market sooner.
@@ReynSupreme totally agreed, I don't know why it takes Sony so long to bring it to market it baffles me
@SunsetNova I couldn't agree more. I feel Sony is failing to capitalize with the hype they make whenever they delay their release.
❤❤❤ cool glad to see that I love this
21/9 is perfect for gaming. i use it too on my pc. its the best
Random restart is an actual defense for system heat response which is actually sony confirms it.
that phone cover look very nice
Sony 😍
Do you considering that I should buy the Xperia 1 iv for 450 Euros is a good deal? Or should I buy an s22 ultra instead (I used to have an Xperia like 7 years ago and I loved it I'm considering getting back but l'm uncertain if is going to be a good purchase be idk anything about photography and l used a lot the front facing camera)
Nice and very detailed review 👍
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching 🍻
Great vidéo. Have à good day.
Thanks for watching! 🍻
Great Vid. Happy to hear the heating problem has seemed to resolve itself. The cameras on this phone are so interesting. Can auto mode take some nice pictures. Pixel keeps changing their post processing and it's not always for the better.
Not really resolved, but not as much as before. Still occurs when the 120hz display is left on, what I mean the device is warm to feel. I believe this is a problem with the processor too. All the photos taken in the review are in auto. the photos are true to life, if the weather is gloomy your photo will be gloomy and depressing too. I like it that way, but there are times I wish they'll tweak it with the new Sony xperia 1 V.
It's a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 issue, so software/OS can only do so much. It would be cool if we can just swap it to the gen1+ variant
what apps do you use in a day? I'm concerned about the batt life since I plan to buy this phone. Also, is the zoom lens soft? I heard some who have feedback on it.
Hi I consider myself a heavy user, I use have 2 emails, I play 2 games (MOBA), I use Quizlet, remarkable app and Forest(timer) on a regular basis for school. My Bluetooth is on all the time as I love listening to music. I spend plenty of time browsing YT and the web. Zoom lens is great, it's not as sharp as my s22 ultra, but not really a deal breaker as it's s way better with digital zoom. Zoom photos are quite good. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching. 🍻
@@ReynSupreme Thanks po for the reply. Great and honest review btw.
Got this phone for $300... Crack screen but plan on doing a glass screen replacement soon.
Nice video! I also chose purple. More of a flair than black, but still classy! ;)
Thanks for watching, I am truly surprised with the color as well. 🍻
we are now 7 months further and you have had a summer in canada. how was the overheating issue till now?
I think that's the Sony case? Is it good? And glass screen protector or a plastic one? Last one, 3.5mm audio quality compared to an LG?
I currently have a 1 V on pre-order, coming off of LG's.
If we're talking about the looks and the functionality, the case is 10/10. If protection, 6/10. The sides are open, making the phone at risk from scratches.
I always go with the plastic matte. I had bad experiences with glass protectors.
3.5 mm jack against LG is a tough one to answer.. let's put it this way, LG's QuadDac turned me into a fan, while Sony's are 3.5 jack is a great addition.
5G is not working after Android 13 update, can I know why I am so worried
Im planning to upgrade my phone from poco f1 to either of these:
Poco f5 pro
Xperia 1 IV
Pixel 7 pro
S23 ultra
Things i look for a phone are display, battery, camera, audio (audiophile stuff) and performance. Have you tried the phones mentioned above except f5 pro? Please provide your unbiased feedback below.
Also, after the android 13 update, how long can you take a 4k video until you get a warning and how often does the phone gets hot? Im planning to use this in concerts and take 4k vids but it might just stop out of nowhere if it gets too hot.
Thank you!
I always say this, everyone has unique advantages over the other. I was able to use pixel 6 pro, Xperia 1 IV and S22 Ultra. I can only speak for these devices.
Pixel phones: generally are simple, easy to use UI. This is like the iPhone of androids. They also have great night photography (if you want your shots to be brighter)
Disad: battery life is so, so, and the gaming performance is just ok for me. Audio performance is a meh.
S23 ultra: is a great phone packed with many features I don't think I'll be using. One thing they improved with s23 is the battery life which is better compared to s22
Disad: I think one disad of Samsung is they are playing with the "ecosystem" for one to enjoy the full features of their device you have to get Samsung devices too. For me, I hate that idea. My s22 can get warm too when playing high intensive game. ( Chipset problem)
Xperia 1IV(pls watch my vid for details): they are ok in most parts, lovely hardware design, for me their color science in photography, vids are wonderful and improved their sound on Sony headphone devices even better.
Disad: Can get warm with 120hz on, battery life is just ok to poor. Camera can be a hit or miss( I explained it in the vid)
If you're planning to use 4k l video at night, I think Samsung will serve you better. 4k video at night is not the best in Xperia esp. if it's dim. 7pro I have not tested this one so I can't speak for their 4k video in a dim condition.
I hope my reply helps you a bit. Thanks for watching. 🍻
I want to buy this xperia 1iv but I still care about the overhead . 😢. Many reviewers say , this phone too hot.
Is it true?
Do you have solution to me .?
Or using 60hz display will be saver the temperatur?
The phone can get warm just like any other snapdragon 8 gen 1. The same as my Samsung s22 ultra. The chipset is the main problem. In my video I discussed them, and it all stays the same up to now.
Edit: the phone improved compared before. The camera, in my experience, doesn't shut down too often like before. 60hz helps in the battery and the warmness.
hi can i ask your experience now on the overheating issues when you take videos? and what would be the battery life after?
Hi overheating issue is common in snapdragon 8 gen 1 series. I can attest to this as I used a samsung s 22 ultra. The problem with Sony is their sensors don't like over heating. The phone can get warm the same as my samsung s22 ultra now. After the patch, the video still allows you to use the camera with just overheating warning. Battery life varies, I discussed in my video about battery life. Thanks for watching.
@@ReynSupreme thanks!
@@ReynSupreme last question between the two samsung 22 ultra with the 1 iv which would you recommend now?
@@personalfarmer.94 Tough call. Performance stability, os update, auto stots at night Samsung s22 ultra
Audio, connectivity, haptic( I'm a fan of Dynamic vibration), screen and hardware design
Battery is a toss up. In my experience, the battery last longer in my s22 ultra for a bit.
That purple look black or am I tripping😅
Bonjour,
I don't think it's unappreciated. It was unusable before Android 13 came in, and anyone who tried it with 12 would be disappointed.
Even with 13, the camera sometimes doesn't work (rare, but it happens) and it has other annoyances, like less performance than other phones with the same SoC and it gets HOT.
It does have a few things that are great and better than the competition, but the downsides are awful.
It can get hot at times agreed, esp. If you leave the 120hz refresh rate at all times. I used the word unappreciated because of its flaws. these small annoyances mostly cover the overall appreciation of the device. I did not feel or see the "less performance" as I compared it with my s22 ultra, and camera works for me all the time( except when when taking a couple of videos when still with Android 12). Thanks for watching! 🍻
I don't think you'll realise the performance loss unless you game. There's not too many differences that processor can do to differentiate themselves. You'll barely notice the difference in most cases.
Did you experience slow mobile data speeds when compared to other phones? My OnePlus gets 30mbps speed when xperia 1 iv gets only around 10-15mbps. Tried changing apn setting etc but no luck yet.
Even with my phone not supported by 5g, I didn't feel a slow mobile data speed. I can't speak for the data speed in 5g as it's supported by my carrier. 😞 thanks for watching. 🍻
@@ReynSupreme thanks for the reply. Im using 4G LTE network as well. Not 5G.
@Scenic Addiction to be exact, my download speed is 43 mbps, and my upload speed varies from 5-13. Upload speed is on the low side, and could be about my carrier as I learned that my carrier's network is the least compatible with my Sony in Canada. 😞 but again, upload speed doesn't feel too slow for me. Hope this helps 🍻
Maybe you have the international version
Small wonder it's unappreciated - awful camera auto mode, horrific battery life, terrible thermal management and throttling, and horrendously overpriced unless you get a good deal on a used one.
I also don't buy the argument these phones can compliment a proper DSLR - the hardware (and lens options!) of a proper camera far exceeds anything these phones can do. If anything, you'd want a phone to be a quick point-and-shoot to quickly capture images in moments when you don't have time to fiddle with settings - but Sony's terrible auto mode (awful dynamic range, inconsistent and often washed-out colors) precludes its usage as such.
It's the right phone for people who absolutely refuse to compromise on having a certain set of hardware features; power to you if the phone works for your use case, but otherwise, most people are better served elsewhere.
Perspective varies from one person to another. Others are into what main stream is all about, while others just want a totally different experience to a phone. I used both Samsung s22 ultra and my Sony Xperia 1 IV, both have different experiences, but I cannot say that one is worst than the other. I used them both for more than 6 months, but I ended up using my Xperia as my main device. My point is there are people out there who are tired of the mainstream, and just wanted to know what it feels like to use other devices and this review is for them. Thanks for watching.
