Omg! 🤣🤣🤣I was the school’s coach and I always tried to be as down to earth as possible but you can’t imagine the pressure the county places on us. It’s ridiculous! I was able to maintain a great relationship with my teachers because I rolled my sleeves up and planned, cut papers and anything else I could do to help. I worked with the boy facing the wall… guess what … the county did not like that at all! 🤣🤣🤣
I am always lighting candles and praying that academic coaches or administrators don't ask the kids who are off in space about the learning objective. The lights are on, but they are not home.
So on point. I got downgraded on an evaluation because my shy but brilliant student didn’t ask questions. She didn’t need to ask questions because she understood the assignment and was busy doing prize winning work. That was more practical engagement than a "pair and share" so the whole class could discuss assignment.
Preach it brother. 25 years in public school. Bs it isn't a gotcha!!! They should try to support us, not bring us down. Say it louder for the people in the back!!!!!!!!! Keep saying it. Love to ya. ❤❤😊

He had never lied. You was just a teacher last year catching it and now this year you looking at me trying to figure out my plight. Like he said what you have to do is strategically place the little students who are your on point students one assigned at every group and give them a name,i.e captain, reporter, etc. They grab onto their position and handle that whole table. You just tell them when you see Ms.A or Mr. D come in our class you become captain of your table automatically and then watch them support you. That’s all I’m saying
Yes you have to spread them out so when the academic specialist come in and ask another student at the table what y’all are doing they can correct the answer.
For sure!!!! Place the smart ones strategically about the room!! And if they’re absent on T-TESS day……go borrow one or two from your buddy across the hall!
How much money could we save and lower class sizes if we did away with academic coaches. I had fun as a retired teacher at a community input meeting on district improvements when they put me at a table of academic directors. I let them heard the brutal truth that all their little programs were absolutely worthless extra work and documentation. They were obsessed with using all the buzz words for our table's suggestion.
Like...these observations are for the birds. They tell you what youre doing wrong but never give suggestions or offer help. My go to is...can you model that for me?
