As skaters, we always have people telling us, "I used to skate." Security guards, dads, randoms in the streets...it seems like everybody, "used to skate". So today, Prod and Torey put that theory to the test in Hollywood, CA! Come with us as we get annoyed by Spiderman, find out The Rock is made of wax and search for some (real) skaters! Man I love this so much. I skated hard for 15 years and then life just got so damn busy. I still visit 2 of my child hood friends every 3 months so we can skate the mini ramp in his barn and the local cement park. We fall, we laugh, we pull something, but just riding around with your homies feels great. Then we go home to drink whiskey and watch old skate VHS's and DVD's. We are all 36 right now.

Dude I’ve had the same shit happen except I was trying to get back into it before I dislocated my knee twice shredding my inner tendons and had to get screws in my knee, haven’t since but I’m close to getting comfortable to try again😅

i think what was crazier, is from the clip you probably would think he was capping, but i think he would be confident saying he can skate to someone else, but can you really skate if PROD is asking you if you can?
@@illmill3639I'm glad that he attempted it, and even though he didn't fully land it - you can tell that he has the ability. Not just because I'm Black, but I like that the Black guy in both these segments, (the one with shades and the one with Stephen J.) landed these tricks decently, because they'd be accused of culture biting. And, as a Black dude that grew up enjoying hard rock - we HAD to come correctly or people thought we were posing.
I don't say "I used to skate," I just say "I don't skate as much anymore." I don't think I'll ever stop. It's in my blood. Even if it's once a year, once every couple of years, doesn't matter. Once a skater, always a skater. Keep it up everyone!

Love this!! I'm a dad of three. A little more than 4 years ago, a guy brought his board in to work and skates during lunch break. Seeing him ripp around opened up the flood gates for me. I skated when I was younger for six years like my life depended on it. I stepped on it and landed a heel flip first try. It had been a couple of decades. Since then I haven't put it down. Got my own collection and skate as much as I can ❤

I’m going to be 42 in the middle of September, but my friend Josh, who I used to live with for a handful of years as a roommate, I met him when I was around 18 and me and him both got into skateboarding at between 18 and 20 and did it for about 10 years, we also used to bowl for several years and the bowling started intermittently near the end of our skateboarding time, But if they had come up to me on the street, I would have been one of those “I used to skate” people.
The last board I ever used I still have, and could probably pull off an Ollie or a 180 even if I haven’t done it in a while, but I would have loved to have one a shirt or even a board.
When the Tony Hawks Pro Skater series came out, we would, when we weren’t skateboarding, we were probably at home at at least half the time of any games we played be playing those and I believe I owned at least the first four and I remember owning Underground and Project 8.
If they had come up to even him, my friend, Josh, I know they’re in a different state and me, and my friend Josh, live in Arizona, just a handful of miles away from each other. Coincidentally, if either of us were both stopped, and we said that, we probably be able to swivel the board left and right on the back wheels, do an Ollie or even do a 180 possibly.
But me and him I have no doubt would’ve been able to prove we both used to.
I think this is a pretty cool video and it’s the first of any kind of ever seen, besides videos, where a pro yells do an Ollie or a kick flip.
I think it’s pretty cool that for anyone in this video that has said it, they’re actually able to do a little bit on a board besides saying I used to, and then not actually being able to prove themselves. 😄
I don’t necessarily know what my “claim/claims to fame” would be, but I was actually able to do a few of Rodney Mullins’s moves back, then, including some of his finger flips, one of the few of my skateboard friends that could pull off the in between your legs, flip, and one of the only skateboarding friends of mine. I knew that did a heel flip, and I actually like to doing those quite a bit.
Awesome segment. I work security and I used to skate in my teens. It's amazing how life turns around, and you now are the guy kids hate XD I try not giving them a hard time, and let them skate spots for the longest I'm allowed before I have problems with the boss.

I used to work mall security and there were a couple times i was told to shoo off skateboarders outside. I would just stand by them and let them know like "hey, i don't mind you skating here, but someone else might. I'll let you stay for 5 minutes but then you gotta get going".
They were always cool about it and accepted the deal lol

i was obsessed with skating from 12 - 15 but quit. only skated once a year or every few years through high school and college. just turned 30 and its been years since i had been on a board but just bought a new complete and im getting obsessed all over again. i absolutely love it and i cant wait to get all my tricks back and progress beyond where i ever was. you're never too old to start skating, everyone go out and skate!!

Next episode Prod and Tpud need to bring paint markers so that they can modify what the board says on the spot. They can scratch out "used to" and change it to "I STILL skate" if the person is still a skater. Then they autograph it and give it away.

Seeing pros engaging with people like this makes me want to go back to skating. U guys are really cool, and it's inspiring to see how humble Prod and TPud are about it.
Many, including myself, have stopped skating for various reasons and its hard to go back, but this kind of positivity makes it tempting to pick up the board again just to do couple kickflips and ollies haha!

As someone from Australia who grew up idolising Arto, Appleyard, and P Rod from abroad, I was just in LA cruising around doing touristy things.

A lot of cities refused to build parks in the 90s. People went to college in other areas without parks. Then a park boom happened. A lot of kids and the parks shut down at night. The cards were stacked against our generation of riders.
I lived just outside of Dallas and had to drive/ride for a few hours to the nearest skatepark in the year 2000. Skaters have it made nowadays. Skateparks everywhere.

I used to skate on and off as a kid, failed attempts at ollies. Picked it back up around 2018, failed attempts at rolling ollies no matter how many times I tried (might've gotten some baby ones in). But i always love the feeling of just riding around regardless of not having a trick bag. I may suck at skateboarding, but i have the heart and have always appreciated the sport.
Plus, having the mind of a skater is fun because i'll look at certain spots and think "someone should skate that". Shout out to all the countless hours spent playing Tony Hawk and Skate games growing up 🔥
