Would love to see an update on this. just with the popularity of subscription based packages with Nordic Track and Hydrow, would like to see the newest tech for the C2
I second this!
I'll third it!

I have a pretty chunky phone cover that fits the phone holder and don’t have any issues with the buttons. I have used Erg Data for approx 12 months and learnt some new features from your video 👍🏻.
Hey Fantastic! Love that we could show you something new.
An awesome app and an awesome phone holder - I've ordered one and downloaded too :) Man, the world of erging is becoming really something for me, I'm super excited :) Great video as always dude !
The metrics are per stroke. Force is watts. Peak force is the peak of your force curve, average is the average force for the entire stroke. What you were seeing is the data for your last stroke. The relationship between drive time and drive length helps with ratio--I keep those two metrics visible when I row. Ratio is just as important on the erg as on the water. matching spool-speed at the catch makes for a much tighter top end. Also, I have a blind rower who uses voice guidance. For her it's great. It would drive me crazy though. I saw a few mentions of ErgData. The online racing is amazing! I'd really like to race you, Shane! Download the trial and let's line up! Great video as always!
Charlie! That would be fun. Did you mean race each other via liverowing? Thank you for helping explain the drive time and drive length. I kept both up while 5k testing yesterday and it was very helpful.
Total space on my part. I meant RowPro. I use it strictly for the online rows--basically, you compete in real-time. ErgData with the C2 Log does a much better job with the metrics.
czcams.com/video/FBgT0D7HKG4/video.html Here is a link to a guy who live streamed a RowPro piece. Not making excuse, but, I did a half-marathon the day before...
Actually power is measured in Watts, not force. Force is measured in Newtons (N) and is a product of mass (of the flywheel) x acceleration. Energy is force produced over a distance (a Newton Meter for example). Finally power, which is displayed on the screen, is measured in Watts and is energy output over time (Watt = Nm/sec^2). This is of course oversimplifying mechanical force on a indoor rower a little as force is a vector but if you want to learn all about it there is a really cool paper about it all here: eodg.atm.ox.ac.uk/user/dudhia/rowing/physics/
Hey Samuel! Thanks for the clarification. I’ll admit that I quickly burned up the brain cells from my physics classes in college...
I actually started using this today and it's fantastic!
Sailing Fun Race is my favorite!!
Can't tell if serious or joking 😂
Thanks for the info Shane! I use a waterrower at home and the Concept2 at the gym. I much prefer the C2 experience. I just downloaded the app for my C2 gym sessions. My biggest disappointment in my WaterRower is the S4 monitor. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought the C2. Great video!
Ya, it's unfortunate that the WaterRower creates a one size fits all approach that doesn't really allow for a lot of change or feedback. You could always sell it on craigslist and find a new C2 :)
Biggest issue I see is with not being able to connect to multiple machines. I have a BikeERG, SkiERG and rower. I do a lot of interval training. It is a huge pain in the ass to keep disconnecting and connecting to different machines. HUGE! This needs to be fixed!
Noted and hopefully Concept2 is watching Heather.
Hey Shane. On ergdata you need click the sync button on the top left corner of the third screen in order to push your workout to the concept2 logbook. I'd you don't hit sync the workout is only stored on your phone.
Thanks Ron! Just did it to make sure all my workouts are up to speed.
The Erg data is often too unstable for me. So I switched to the Float app instead, more stable for me.
I like the mug brother .🐎
boatcoach app dan eiref
trying to decide if this is the app I want
Wish you showed the screen more.
This is the only rowing app I use. Flip the phone 180 so the volume controls are up... solves the volume problem you experienced and lets you control volume if you're listening to music with wireless headphones while you row.
I just hang the phone off to the side a little bit, it is very secure even on short hard rows.
I did that but then it hit my lock button and shut the phone haha! 6 one way one half dozen the other I guess.
Funny! I'm thinking my iPhone cover is slightly thicker... prevents the buttons from mashing. Thanks for the great videos.
The app is great but needs 1) power curve average data, this would reveal where one is compromised over one’s training. The perfect row would result in a thin bell curve, but it would fatten in areas of the stroke that change. Power curve data is the most helpful for anyone regardless of level but C2 isn’t exploiting this on the PM5; and 2) average pace in an interval because many of us target pace/500m in each interval for races. Elapsed time, and real time pace or overall avg pace are not sufficient. This is obviously available in interval training but not in specific distance events, e.g. 2k. These are two of several options I’ve sent to C2 for consideration in PM6.
Love that you've been sending C2 new ideas for the PM6. I've chatted with them about future versions and what's to come but who know when or how it will come out.
It's been a while (3 years?) since I wrote any software that connects to the C2, but I recall being recommended by C2 to only poll the monitor about 4 to 10 times per second for data, leaning more towards 4 times. Unfortunately, that doesn't give you enough steps to create the curve as seen on the monitor. Dark Horse Rowing, great channel! I wrote Delta Rower a few years ago, you're welcome to review it, though it leaned more towards 3D, and was lighter on data. There was a training tool I started work on. I dropped development because there are, as you said, not many people that use apps while rowing. I've considered getting back into making an app, judging from feedback on Reddit, there looks like there is an audience...it just sucks to spend a year spare time and only have maybe 30 people want to use your software. Anyway, hope this info helps, DM.
Finish your coffe or whatever; don't waste my time
🤣
wahoo hr monitor is nice .does both bt and ant+
Thanks Erik! Is it chest or wrist based?
@@DarkHorseRowing chest.
So you can connect wahoo app on concept 2 while you are using ant + hrm?
IPod and Google Sheets...Heart Rate Monitor tied to Concept Computer
That's one way for sure.
ok
Just wish blue tooth would connect with my headphones as well.
John Agapos Hmm...mine does. iPhone? I connect to my headphones and my Polar chest strap.
Android; as I understand it, blue tooth works in pairs. If my headphones are connected to my phone, how would the rower connect to my phone as well? I'll give it a shot, just to see if it works.
I have heard that said before about bluetooth only working in pairs. It’s certainly true of my PM5. I can only connect to the app OR my HR monitor, but not both. My phone on the other hands allows me the multiple connections. Good luck!
Just tested this the other day and my wireless bluetooth headphone were able to connect simultaneously with my iphone and ergdata running at the same time.
Chops video every 5 seconds.
But makes us watch his entire workout.
Ask for a refund......
What does 30r20 mean? I thought it 20 reps per min in 30 mins
It means: 20 seconds row, followed by 30 seconds rest. The 20 seconds is rowed at a hard sprint pace, followed by 30 seconds at recovery rate, typically between 16 to 20 strokes per minute (SPM). You begin your sprint when you reach the 3 seconds on the rest countdown, so as to have a full hard 20 seconds of sprint. This row:rest time is the interval, when you do an interval session. All of this is programable and can be customized by you. Your PM comes with several interval training sessions already uploaded to it. These happen to be the most popular and commonly used training routines for interval training. Hope that this has been of help to you.
Camera is moving too much dude!
Noted.
rowers app
Thanks Rory.
Decent and funny commentary but a thumbs down. Sorry, when I googled rowing machine games and apps was more interested in a yes or no in your video not watching or spending time watching you do a workout. Not a helpful video but, like I said you are funny with a nice personality.
