This reminds me of when I bought some indoor Par38 LED bulbs that are 3200 lumens each and I sealed all the cracks with silicone and they have now been used through major snow and rain storms outside for 5 years. The indoor lights cost $5 a bulb and I used 10 bulbs total ($50), the lights made for outside were $40 a bulb for the same brightness; saved $350 by using some silicone caulk.
Hi chooch it's been a month now any update on your ex.n bearings? Can you open up the ex.n and make a vid? Thanks.🙌🏻
I'd like to see this too
I’ve been riding unicycle since I was 11 and swing bikes since 2010 and I just got my first euc, a king song 16s luv your content man you are by far my favorite euc CZcamsr keep up the great work!!!!
Heck yea, gonna put the cam on one and follow it on the uni to make it look like the rc car did a full adventure across town one day lol! Wish i had my baja 5b still that thing was a trip!
As a known design issue (most of us do not live in an arid climate), I guess this begs the question... Why the hell don't they just do this at the factory when they are assembled? Don't get me wrong, I am very familiar with taking all of my wheels apart to replace motors, tires etc. But if I drop that kind of cash on a brand spanking new wheel... I sort of expect NOT to have to tear it down before I can ride it. Am I the only one?
Price we pay for early adoption :( It sure would be nice if we didn't have to deal with this.
I guess it's early adopter issues as Joshua says but it still stings. It's yet another mark against Begode that is hard to ignore.
I don't even want to switch the battery in my laptop and that just clicks in. This makes me not want to buy. I love to break stuff then fix it sometimes and sometimes accidentally break it more. I am 50/50 with screws. Be great if you could just pay more for a water proof one . When someone going to have custom options that be cool
@@coolhawk2003 The new inmotion v12 is waterproofed I believe
@@allysally9992 thats not a gotway tho
Thank you chooch for the awesome content!
Enjoyable to watch man. You've taken a burden off my head. This was a big concern about my Exn. Thanks a lot
Hey man, thanks for the video. Good idea with the waterproofing
Thanks for this Chooch. You are a brave dude. Great video. Would love to see a follow up vid on how well everything is holding up in a month or so.
Just used this guide to marine grease the bearings and waterproof the motor on my exn hs. Thanks !
Im sure it would be too much trouble but I'd love to see you strip the silicone and open the motor after 1000 miles to see how well your treatment worked
Hey Chooch! How has this mod been treating you? Anything you wish you did differently? I just ordered this wheel today, and live in the Arizona desert. Probably going to pack my bearings with grease, and seal it up just to keep sand and dust out. Thinking about additional cooling as well. Thoughts on that?
Love your vids man. So inspiring, and thrilling to watch! Take care.
It don’t have to look pretty it just has to work :)
Love it man, thanks for the tutorial
Thank you so much! I didn't know it was this simple, and I appreciate your videos, even if they're titled 1/16th aeroplane.
Man I can't wait to get mine in because this will be the 1st thing I do as well as seal the back of the main board
Nice instructional Chooch👍
I would recommend doing the silicone on the motor before the grease on the bearing. Silicone will not stick to greasy parts as the grease will act as a release agent.
Still a great video 😊
I'd be real interested to know how this affects your range and wheel temps. I remember how i used to 'lubricate' skate bearings like this by packing them with grease.. turns out it makes them really slow, as every bearing has to clear a path through the grease continuously. just a hint of lighter oil works the best. Marine grease on the outside of the shell would work great as another layer of defense but can only hinder the bearings inside
@25:34, I think Cardi B would gladly accept your challenge. LOL! Great job Chooch. You are such a pleasure to watch ⚫😄
"I've got, basically a spoon here"
*Grabs a dab tool* 🤣👌
hey Choosh is that a Dental Hook you use to pull the bearing seal? i use something similar to take the silicon out of all sensor i am scared using a blade tho!thank you for sharing this i might reconsider getting a exn🤔
Veľmi technický a perfektne ovlada elektrokolku ...
Awesome Man! Been thinking of doing the same thing to my RS 19. Was thinking it would void the warranty? Only reason I haven’t opened mine up yet. I do work and build RCs like you mentioned on the vid, so I think I should be able to get it done.
Thanks for sharing the great content. Keep it coming! 👍
Howdy Chooch, question for you: Any need to waterproof the shell its self? I ride without the seat relatively often.
Will those silica gel packs mess with the cooling air flow the mobo needs?
Awesome dude!!!
Great video! Messy is better than rusty for sure! 💪💪💪
Hard to understand you with the TV on.
Nah.
Question which EUC would you say is best between the Sherman or the Begode ex n??? Southern Colorado rider
It largely depends on use case. Here's my experience: The EX.N has ridiculous torque. Even with torque pads, I cannot overpower the wheel without jumping at 220 lbs other than by pumping hard. Sherman, on the other hand, is also an excellent wheel, but is not as friendly when it comes to handling any sort of heavy hills; at least from the videos I have seen.
I guess our custom seals will be better then nothing.we rode above 1000km on water and snow.still great works!
what kind of camera do you use? thx
Awesome video.
Point of order on the silica packet, though -
Once that packet is full, it's full.
Those suck water out of ambient air, and never let it go unless you toss that packet into an oven to dry it every now and again.
for real?...looks like i just learned something today. will they never dry without extreme heat?
@@Jay7ona Doesn't need to be extreme, but hotter than boiling for a couple of hours. Most people do 225 to 250F, or there about.
What camera do you use bro?
I just fell on my inmotion V 5F There was some sand from construction I’m getting anxiety from him riding so damn quick on the mud he’s going to slip wobble wobble and fall
i have an inmmotion vf5 :D !
This was a goopy episode and I liked it.
Fastest heeley's. One push.....gone. haha
I live in Nebraska! And I’m lookin to get a wheel and u have helped so much!! Let’s meet n ride together sometime !
I gotta do this too my RS-19
Hollow motors are so easy to pull out too.
Is it the same motor and bearing for RS ?
@@ramezsamir7811 Exact same design, smaller scale.
@@ramezsamir7811 Actually I checked. They are slightly different.
The RS-19 and Monster Pro bearings are more indented and harder to get too. (Still have an outside indented gap you can fill with Marine Grease to make it more hydrophobic.
Begode are good guys so they put a few spare holes in the shell for free. Enjoy 😉
Hey bro, if you were to choose for your first euc between RS HT or the EXN HT. Which one would you choose?
rst all day
rst does it all and does it all pretty well at a great price
@@choochtech thanks for the quick response!! I definitely agree with you!! The price is just right without breaking the bank and has the features i was looking for my first euc. Thanks bro!!
Thank you Chooch!
Just ordered marine grease.
Looking forward to greasing up my RS and taking it out for a stress free ride afterwards!
Please do update us again with the waterproofing status!
Keep up the great informative and instructional videos!
Thanks again!
Is this the same motor like the RS ?
how is it working out for your RS?
@@electric_meadows_racing hey, the RS motor cover is not the same as the EXN. There's no opening like the EXN to put the marine grease in so nicely. I just shoved in as much as I could in the small opening, and I put silicone around the edge of the cover near the screws.
Thank God is still running smooth, but that might also be for to the fact that I don't use it in wet conditions.
I got a V10F for when it's wet outside.
Gotcha thanks bud my HT is coming within the next couple weeks. Interested to see the inside 1st timer here all around. Wishe luck
@@electric_meadows_racing good luck buddy! You're gonna love this wheel once you get a hang of riding. Keep note that it's heavy & a high performance wheel. Be safe & gear up 👍
I can't figure out how you get such good video of u riding? is someone on a one Wheel filming u? awesome vids!
360 cam on a stick.
@8:52 I see that they still have NOT improved the 6 tiny screws placement that holds the shell with the HEAVIER battery packs from my old Tesla (1KWh vs 2.7KWh = 2.5ish times the weight) = those will crack like crazy at falls :-/
There are already ways to waterproof the bearings, you are right about the grease but you need a 3D printed cover as well.
The original bearing cover is not 3D ! Do you know somebody doing 3D bearing cover for the RS ?
@@ramezsamir7811 not sure what you mean by original cover as there is none. cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/bearing-protection-for-begode-rs-and-begode-ex-n-ver-2-0
@@RonnieRides In the video you will find the original seal he get it out . that what I was talking about .
Oh very nice ^^*
if you're going to do it, mine as well overdo it :D
You have to be careful mixing different types of greases. It can cause it to harden or liquify depending on the base oils. It looks like a pain to tear that apart far enough to completely remove old grease.
Underrated comment. Which type of grease is best?
@@vtran1082 The type isn’t as critical as removing all of the old grease and starting from scratch to avoid incompatibility.
Just purchased the RS19. I imagine I could do the same thing with it, right?
Is the RS bearing the same like here ?
@@ramezsamir7811 yes its a hollow-motor as well.
First gen rs bearings are not accessible like this
@@igorgoga7985 yeah neither are mine...
That'd be funny if at the end you said haha April fools I totally jacked up this wheel
Will you ever be doing a video on the Sherman?
First. Love the content brother
Damn what is this works Bro silicone and Grease !
Used tape plus silicone and a thin layers IS enough Also a 3dprinted covers .
Anyway your job works but looks...
Continue your Channel !
These things need a grease fitting
these companies are laughing all the way to the bank
"Millennial MANIAC drag races TESLA Model 3 Performance on an ELECTRIC unicycle on an OLD TOWN ROAD and THIS HAPPENED..." Do it for the Vine! (And CZcams Algorithm - haha!)
Was this the winning euc?
yep and I have not opened it since this lol
@@choochtech dope stuff. I'm def gonna do this. Im also gonna do that syringe thing you mentioned. Congratulations man. I posted the race on Ill E-Riders group on fb.
Messy greasy... Oh if it works it works... Waiting for the before & after i hope it really works... I need an effective diy waterproofing...
yes, I can say no grinding no grit and no grease slinging out it worked and it worked well! It's been about a week and a half since I did this and heavy water riding and it is perfect! wheel rolls like butter the free spin is silent! So glad I did this first thing!
also, all the silicone dried clear and is sealing the motor, and dirt washes off that part with ease!
@@choochtech great! Then i'll wait for when you're ready to open it up, thanks for the feedback. Really like how you ride so smooth...
I'm also hoping he will do an update video and open it for us.😊
Any more updates on how this water proofing has done?
Like the rcs in the back lol
Appreciate it! Had a cool small engines teacher in high school and would just fool with all my rcs from home for two hours a dayXD it was great! Got a sick gas-powered grand Cherokee ill have back soon!
@@choochtech that's awesome man !! Me and my son have about 25 Rcs lol. You should ride you wheel to a cool rc spot on video one day.
Messiest silicone job ever :-) Tip, its only the tiny part at the connection between hub and rim that makes a difference. A silicone spatula (type used for i.e. bathroom) to press it in and make a neat seal is bettet than just spilling all over
Risky business chooch.. for one there is a huge hole on the back of the motherboard to cool the heat sink. You didn’t remove the motherboard and check the sealing of that..also you trust the edge seal of the shell?? So many ways for water to ingress there. Any moisture whatsoever inside the wheel allows for potential shorts on the motherboard. It’s not about just sealing the bearings. A rusty bearing is not going to kill you. It’s about not allowing moisture to contact the batteries or the electronics. I seriously think you ride that in your conditions you will have problems down the road. For one FIRE is caused by water inside the shell!! Don’t keep that wheel in your house. Damn dude. You are playing Russian roulette with your wheel and promoting your subscribers to do the same!!
That TV....I just wanna destroy the whole building !
