Good luck finding this CORRECT version on iTunes!

One of the best tv themes of all time.
The best
This is from the second season when Peter Grave took over from Steven Hill. My father played the Bassoon in the first season intro.
While the original version of the "Mission:Impossible" TV theme failed to reach the top forty, the theme from the Tom Cruise film of the same name did reach the forty in 1996-This is a classic instrumental!
This is gold! Always liked the original. Thanks for the upload.
One of the few pop songs in 5/4 time!
@The Fantom Convoy A song being part of an OST does not exempt it from being a pop song.
Living in the Past by Jethro Tull is in 5/4 time. czcams.com/video/2YymGJKhGgY/video.html
I never realized that! 😮
This and Hawaii 5-0 were great theme songs
I found it !!!!. I m searching for that version a long time... Thank you. The best. The guitar riffs are great.
On this day in 1967 {December 31st} "Mission - Impossible" by Lalo Schifrin entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #41 and spent 14 weeks on the Top 100...
He won the 1968 Grammy Award for 'Best Original Score - TV Show' {he has been nominated twenty-one times and has won four times}...
Besides 'Mission - Impossible' he has composed the score for twelve other TV series and a 'unbelievable' 164 movies...
Mr. Schifrin, born Boris Claudio Schifrin, will celebrate his 82nd birthday come next June 21st...
I miss the days when TV shows had a theme song. Sometimes it was better than the show itself and it made you want to watch the show.
Indestructible soundtrack. Mission... enjoyed.
just realized that its far superior to the later reworks of this theme.
thanks for sharing
That and the opening theme music for Johnny Quest of the 60s are my top two.
This Should Be The Official Start To Every Black Ops Mission!
This recording, however, was used on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" during the 1968 period when Carson did parodies of the openings of "M:I" where Phelps would get his instructions in tape recorders hidden in phone booths. Only in Carson's takeoffs, he had trouble getting out of the phone booths, and the "self-destructing" tape machine exploded, leaving him looking much the worse for wear. (I.I.N.M., the voice heard on those parodies was NBC staff announcer Arthur Gary.)
OMG! I LOOOOOOVE YOU❤😂🎉😊
EXCELENT SONG THEME ABOUT A GOOD TV SERIES.
You've got a collector's item with that mono 45rpm single, but for listening purposes, the same recording is in stereo on the album.
Oooooooo yeah!
Like dig them bongos man.😎
Too awesome for words. Lalo! Eres lo máximo!
Hi,Charles Wagner-You're correct that Larry Mullen & Adam Clayton from U2 had a huge hit with this one-It was from the first "Mission:Impossible" movie that starred Tom Cruise-That was almost twenty years ago-Yipes!
Will the record self destruct?
in 5 4 3 2 1 buuuuuuuuurn it boom
Now that's funny.
awesome and a great show
このワクワク感ハンパない🙂
EXTRAORDINARIO, VIVA ARGENTINA!!!
Your mission, should you wish to accept it...
This is something elses
I can still see the fuse being lit...
Terrific,I just wish Shifrin had also released his arrangement of the Man From Uncle theme as a single.
he probably couldn't - didnt' own the rights to the recorded versions. It was years before the original recordings of his music to "Bullitt" were released, only after he'd carried the sheet music to Germany for the WDR big band to play... Besides his version of the Man From UNCLE, I'd like to hear his music from THE Cat.....
love!
Ty
There was an mono album on Paramount (successor to Dot) that had the full version of the TV take... which was different from this single. I've heard them both, and of course the TV version I've heard a zillion times. The piano isn't playing in the intro, and the bass part is an octave higher. I'm sure this is the original single (I've got this one myself), but as for it being the same take, with the same orchestra as the TV theme, I disagree.
awesome
Wow ty
S u p e R !!! Magnifique !!! Original !!!
I Like the 1966 TV Version.
I HAVE THE VINIL OF THE TV SERIE VERY RARE TO FIND HAVE OTHER SONGS ARE SPINOFF OF THIS LEIVMOTIV
Not only that, on the TV take, I distinctly remember hearing an acoustic double bass being played, as opposed to what clearly sounds like an electric bass on this recording.
Esos arreglos armónicos muy de los '60...
The first time they heard this music..
Your mission... Mr. Phelps... should you choose to accept it...
Много добър запис... А каква марка е магнитния звукоотнимател?Пише нещо "Стентън" ,не мога да го разчета добре.
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
5 notes. Well played, Joyce. Well played.
Yeah this one doesn't have the B - bom towards the end like the TV take.
Is your turntable a Technics SL-1300 mk2 ? I have one and you're the first person that I've seen with one besides me.
My turntable is an SL-1500MK2 which is similar to the 1300 but is completely manual. I bought it new in 1978!

wrecking crew?
There’s supposedly some lyrics to the mission impossible theme.
@The Fantom Convoy That argument doesn't hold a lot of water, considering that there are plenty of songs with lyrics written in 5/4. Some people have even sung lyrics to Take Five.
@The Fantom Convoy It may not be conventional, but it does happen.
And that doesn't hold a lot of water either. There are plenty of songs that are part of an OST. Just look at any Disney or James Bond soundtrack. Even the original Star Trek Theme has lyrics written by Gene Roddenberry, even though he never intended to use them on the show, but rather as a way to get half of the songwriting royalties. Granted, this is most likely not the case for the Mission: Impossible Theme.
Too bad this classic version just missed the Top 40 by one point, while a version from the 1990s theatrical movie from Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton did make the Top 40!
I enjoy you so much more when you're wearing short sleeves
🗣Covid 19!❗Eyshent Albert🇦🇷
Great tune. I have to say, though, this is maybe the worst Dot pressing I've ever heard!
