Interestingly, the version of SOS Titanic seen on ABC that season is only now getting released on home media. Up until recently, all versions of the movie that were available were an edited cut that was released theatrically overseas.

1:20 - RIP Ernie Anderson mentioned the World Series that would eventually feature the last time the Pittsburgh Pirates were in (and won) the World Series, over the Baltimore Orioles.

In New York, WABC-TV used that instrumental for the extended closing credits of "EYEWITNESS NEWS" on Fridays (and weekends) for several years.
It's interesting that ABC held the broadcast rights to the Bad News Bears movie trilogy while CBS aired the TV adaptation.

Kind of surprised Fridays wasn't included in "variety" unless it wasn't scheduled for the season at this point...
"FRIDAYS" didn't appear on the schedule until April 11, 1980.

They still produce them for local affiliates to schedule before the new season begins (sometimes, they're seen on the network).
