You're totally right. For example, Nessun dorma is transposed a third lower. In an opera hall, without microphone, most of those sympathetic candidates would be totally inaudible. And do not speak of style...

What's this? Outstanding opera auditions? Cezar, the first has a good voice but was out of tune. You don't sing Nessun Dorma like a countertenor and a baritone in the same performance. The second however, Yahiza was amazing. Both voice and act. The third was not an opera, not even operatic pop. The fourth were not that outstanding at all, not even evil Simon's favourite. The fifth, the Bolivian girl didn't sing opera at all before a judge requested a second song for whatever reason. But her Nessun Dorma was nice. Still - outstanding?? Only Yahiza was outstanding.
