This sort of project is the reason I’m so excited to own my own home 😂
Yay Angelina! But I say it’s never too early to get started, grab some big pots you can move to your new home 💗💗
Star Jasmine is my favorite, I recently had planted 34 of them 5 gallon size up against my front yard chainlink fence, they have very strong smell to them I mainly wanted them to be a privacy wall I kept debating wether to plant boston ivy instead but my understanding they go dormant in the fall &,winter months then having to deal with raking up dead leaves which I didnt want to make extra work for myself it is why choosen the Star Jasmine instead they are evergreen & basically only the flowers go dormant in winter time least thats what I been told.
I think you made a great choice! Here in my garden mine are evergreen and I barely get any leaf drop even in the winter! I bet once yours grow in your privacy fence is going to be a showstopper!
I want to see how it looks now!
Cool thanks. Youve given me the basics on how to start mine. I have a a steel post from a pergola. Bit hard to drill hooks into the steel post and I also dont want to incase the vines dont work in the shady area, then I am left with holes. I might have to get some kind of strong stick on eye hooks
Excellent tutorial!
I love to have scents throughout my garden so I have star jasmine growing at my entrance, potato vine growing up a trellis in my backyard, and scented geraniums throughout my yards. I have a lemon scented geranium that is so fragrant. I love to run my hand over it and smell the lovely lemon scent. I always know when my dog Gracie has been sniffing around my plant because she smells of lemon.
Oh that is so sweet! You’re making me excited about Spring! 🌷
So good to know about the fern. I will be trying that because I only have one and I would love to have two. Thank you for sharing this.
Excellent video, I like the idea of having it grow around the house. I too am in 9b (Monterey County) so your tips are perfect for me! Thank you!
Wow! Great video! I def. want to do jasmine on my balcony
Thanks for this video! I will be planting my Star Jasmine zoned for 7b and training up the fence in a spray at the end of my pool! Will post pic on your Facebook page when done!
Yay Jo! So exciting! Can't wait to see it!
One of my favorite plants. Had it in CA. Now in CO, and it can't grow here along with Gardenias. Makes me want to move back to CA 😊
You did a great video! I really like how you told us where you bought your wire and eye screws and showed package of the eye screws. I just bought floral wreath wire for my climbing rose! I’m not going to use it but will buy the stuff you recommend. I like you drilled into the house! I’m always feel afraid to do it but not anymore 😆. Please do an update so I can see how your jasmine has grown. Thank you!❤
yes please so an update, would loveto see how it turned out
This is so fun, informative and inspiring! Thank you. I have star jasmine seeds on the way, can’t wait!
Kayla you have a plain pretty face, you need to help women to stop wearing all of that Kabuki style make-up and butterfly eyelashes! You go girl!
Oh you have inspired me to do this with all my climbers and roses 🥰 Thank You Janey for sharing 🌸🦋🌸
Oh that will look beautiful!!!
I have a pink jasmine that can use this idea for. Thanks Janey!
Yay! I’m excited to see it! Pink jasmine would be beautiful! 🌸
Heavenly!
Love the espalier design. And your beautiful garden
Thank you so much!
I love the sent of star jasmine! I might have to give it a go this year. My side yard would be a perfect place! You always inspire me with new beautiful ideas for my garden!
You totally should do it Melissa! Just imagine how wonderful it will be to walk through with that smell! And if you do, send me pictures! 😘
I just shared on my LinkedIn!!🎉❤
Love it. So Awesome.!
Hello! I live in the same area as you. Where did you get your sword fern from, please? Also can Jasmine be planted in pots and still be big enough to climb for privacy trellis?
Thanks so much for your videos!
I have over 3metres of Chinese star Jasmine growing along my fence line. Not only do they smell beautiful bit they grow quickly..
Oh that sounds beautiful! I love it when the jasmine is in bloom. I can smell my yard from halfway down the street! Can't wait! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for this video. So helpful.
Love your videos ,
Thank you
Thanks so much for watching 💗
What do you do during winter? How do you protect your plant?
Love mine
Love this so much! Now... I've gotta find a spot to do this!! 😁😁
Thanks so much Teina! Haha squeeze it in!! 😘
I'm late to the party on this video, I just found your channel. I love this, it's going to be so pretty. But, does the music remind anyone else of The Sims? Lol I love it.
can we see a photo update of it now?
Very nice💕
Thank you 😊
Hi thank you for your sharing video. Wonder how is the plant doing now? Thank you
brilliant!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!
Thank you for sharing 🤍 love your garden. Was that a hummingbird in your video❓😳
I'm in 9B!!! LOL where you at?! Are those ferns in the ground and they're doing okay?
Hi...I have this one question do We need to like tie each and every vine cause the tendrils Like they are growing from sides and hanging out from the trellis. Also what fertilizers go well with them? Any inputs pls.
Great video very easy to understand! One question: how long do you think it will take to develop in a rather full coverage ?
This is my project for today, thanks for sharing and wish me luck! What kind of siding do you have? I am terrified to ruin my siding! 🤣
Yay good luck Dyna!! Let me know how it goes! I have just basic wood siding on the front and stucco for the back. We don't get a lot of rain here so I'm not too worried about it! You've got this 💪🏼😘
Hi, I am just in the process of training my Jasmine up my front wall. How is that Jasmine doing now?
Please do a follow up video on the Jasmine growth.
Will do! They haven't grown much yet! Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed your viedo. What would you recommend for stucco. Do you think the smaller hooks will work? Is there somewhere i can send you a picture of my area.
I'm worried about insect predation, planting star jasmine this close to the house. How do you mitigate this?
Bright idea...viewer from india
How clever, I have pink jasmine and I wonder if I could do something similar on my porch columns? Ty
Question; how aggressive is the star jasmine? I have a large concrete (rear) support wall that I want to do a wire trellis on to cover the ugly grey color of the concrete. I'm afraid that Jasmine might be too aggressive? I've had wisteria and it's horribly aggressive, it literally takes over.
Also, I live in Arkansas so our summer sun is blazing, not sure if star jasmine can handle full sun all day/every day? The space is irrigated though which helps.
My considerations are:
-Jasmine
-Vinca vine
-Full Sun Clematis of some variant
-Honeysuckle
-Campis Indian Summer Trumpet Vine
Pretty open here but want something beautiful but easy to manage.
Hi! Thanks for watching! In my experience here in zone 9b, the jasmine is less aggressive than honeysuckle, vinca and WAY less aggressive than wisteria! I don’t have any experience with a full sun clematis or trumpet vine! I have my jasmine in full sun and parts of it are in hot afternoon sun as well and it does fine! Hope that helps! Good luck! 💗
I loved this video. I have many star jasmine but have just planted some next to a fence. Mine have more than 2 vines coming out of the bottom would I train these onto the wire too and just build up so it's more dense or do you just leave one vine per wire and prune the rest from the ground. Thank u so much for your time
Hi Davena! I would wrap multiple ones around each wire! Yay for you for having lots of branching, it’s going to look gorgeous! 💗
@@DigPlantWaterRepeat thank you so much
🤩😍🥰
Is star jasmine safe to be around pets?
hi, quick question, if you put a new young plant in the ground with eg 2 long parts, do you need to immediately cut it to have more longer parts to start growing? or can you simply let it (the 2 parts) grow and does it make a more broader package itself? hope my question is clear....
Janie here -- so happy for your success! First noticed the espalier on the front of your house. What is planted on it?
Hi Janie! Gosh, what a beautiful name! 😉 The espalier on the front of the house has English Ivy on it. Hope that helps and thank you so much!
✔️
Can u double back the vine? My wall is really short like 4 feet
I love confederate jasmine but I believe that placement to be more trouble then needed. For like 1-2 years it will be great looking but its going get annoying once it needs to be cut constantly. My personal experience is from owning like 6 of them placed on a fence next to my driveway. They constantly need to be trimmed. That same fence runs to my front door and it eats my house. the plant constantly attacks you coming and going out the door. I however do love the plants and want them but I cant stand the constant trimming
Haha its eating your house!! It sounds like your jasmine is very happy there!
I've lost count of the sites on which I've asked this question on , without a reply . Can I grow jasmine up a tree , without ruining the trees health . I don't have a fence line or support to allow it to develop , so wanted to know if , with careful maintenance , it was possible to go this route .
I wouldn't. I think it would cause damage to the tree.
@@Sacgirl03 Thanks a lot . I know ivy , if left to it’s own devices can wreck trees , so didn’t want to let any climber get out of control
AAA Made me cut my Jasmine 12" away from my house in California. I ended up removing the entire plant and the whole goal was for it to grow up the house
Vines can damage the exterior. Our neighbors had it on the back of their house and it literally made it's way inside through the walls and got inside the house. I love the look but not sure if it's worth possibly doing some serious damage to the paint or the exterior.
What soil or compost should I use when planting a new one in my clay soil here in north Texas?
Hi Kaitlyn! I would amend your soil with pine bark mulch before planting it! You should be able to get a bag at a big box store pretty easily! Good luck! 💗
What fertilizer do you use for star jasmine ?
Mine is not blooming
Hi Ann! I put on some EB Stone all purpose fertilizer earlier in the Spring. I wouldn’t worry, I’m sure it will start blooming soon! 💗
an I grow it in north africa ? I dont know zones
How wide the spread pls . Some say 1.5m some say 5m
Do you think zone 7 will work😃
Hi Sara! You could try in a protected area but that might be too cold for them! 🥶💗
Which state do you live in ?
Makes me high!
