Lol. I am also in the enemies to lovers is *chef's kiss* camp. All of my favorite ships have at least a little bit of antagonism in the beginning. I agree, love triangles can take a hike. The only valid love triangle in the one in the infernal devices. BUT my least favorite trope (or at least one of) is when you have a girl who is super smart/super badass/a strong female character and she cannot cook. friends to lovers hits the mark for me because i feel like they have the most understanding and least miscommunication...but i wont miss out that enemy to lover trope
I may not be able to read most of the books you review but listening to you talk about books makes me inspired to read more and to fall in love with books over and over again. Sometimes when you get overwhelmed by a book you can easily forget how much you actually enjoy reading books so it's nice to be reminded of that in a enjoyable and entertaining way. Thank you for sharing your emotions and thoughts on the books you read.
you should read School for good and evil series , the first and second book was kinda slow but the rest of the series is the BEST, you should totally read them before the movie adaptation for it.
Enemies to lovers is such an amazing trope. 🤩 I’d have to say found family is also one of my favorite tropes. My least favorite would have to be love triangles. 🙅🏼♀️
Hi Jesse! Love your videos. My least favourite trop is also the love at first sight. Because I think you should at least get to know the person first. Because they could have a sucky personality!
A brand new enemies to lovers book that I adored is Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon! It's about high school rivals who reluctantly team up for their end of high school assassins/scavenger hunt game called Howl. It had so much more heart than I was anticipating and the characters were just lovely.
Retellings of Much Ado About Nothing all have amazing enemies to lovers tropes! Like ‘under a dancing star’, ‘speak easy speak love’ and ‘the only thing worse than me is you’!!
Oh yes! love enemies to lovers, it's like eating anything spicy, it burns but you love it I can't stand unrequited love stays unrequited when it's for stupid reasons (it hurt's my little heart when it's for valid reasons too but I can understand it more) and I have a toxic relationship with pushing away the one you love. It's so cliche but being the coward that I am I relate to it.
Honestly seeing Jesse uploading more often is making me so happy! He’s one of my favourite booktubers & having new videos to watch when I get home from work is a perfect way to wind down when I’m too tired to read! ☺️💕
the archived 'series' is SO GOOD i love it so much also yes i would sell my soul for the 3rd book but for now ill just settle for that little epilogue bit she gave us
A fantastic friends to lovers book is We Are Still Tornadoes by Michael Kun & Susan Mullen. It's about these two friends Cath & Scott who send letters to one another while Cath attends college. (The story takes place in the 80's ) I thought it was just going to be a wholesome book about friendship, but keep an eye for the well hidden hints Jesse, I hope you love it as much as I did!
If you like Friends to Lovers I recommend the Charlotte Holmes series. The relationship evolves over the course of all the books, with a great mystery for each one!
I just recently read an Enemies to Lovers book called Sorcery of Thorns, I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. Nathaniel was hilarious and the Author did a great job at nailing Silas's alien-like nature.
I was in it in my high school. It was freaking horrible. ppl started blaming me for "Hurting"the other person, because I accepted one of theirs proposal. After a week,I rejected them both.A happy free human being on her way..😁
For enemies to lovers I recommend Sometime After Midnight by L. Phillips. It's about these two guys who meet at a club where one of their favorite band plays. Something happens and one of the characters flees and the other only gets a blurry picture of their shoes. It's basically a male version of Cinderella and it was a great book. There wasn't overbearing romance and there was a lot of tension and will they won't they suspense. You guys should check it out.
some nice and very underrated enemies to lovers books: - Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins (Sounds cliché but it's actually great) - Alex, approximately by Jenn Bennett (Set in California, could basically smell the ocean) - Under a dancing star by Laura Wood (this one will keep you flipping the pages) Remember these are books I like someone else might not, but yeah they're some of my favourite books.

Friends to lovers is great. A great example would be Percy Jackson and Annabel Chase, it is probably one of my top ten OTPs, For Nopes I deeply dislike a romantic interest who’s only purpose in the story is as the romantic partner without any extra depth of their own. I actually liked descendent of the crane. It is a slow burn read and is meant to set up another book. But I agree, the magic system isn't well developed but I assumed that was because it was persecuted in the world.
