Fancy robbing a girl of the chance to say goodbye to her brother, how cruel. Little wonder she lost the plot.

Great video I believe I saw the ghost of William Jenkins.when I was younger I was at my friends house playing in his back garden which backs onto Nunhead cemetery. We decided to climb the wall into the cemetery and only in there for a few minutes when a tall figure dressed all in black and wearing a black hat came out of the undergrowth

Up until 1973 the Brigade of Guards, later the Household Division (foot guards) used to guard the Bank of England. After 1963 they were dropped there by truck but before that the "Bank piquet" used to march with a drummer or piper to the bank from the Tower of London( Waterloo barracks) and later from Chelsea or Wellington barracks. In heavy rain they proceeded to this duty by Underground! London was so much more interesting back in those days. What do we have now, Police with scruffy beards and ill-fitting uniforms, I could go on but never mind.

ah but it's so much more than that, if you let it. It's a warning, a comfort, a companion, an instruction and most of all, a rhyme with what's to come. Happy New Year to you @@thurayya8905

I agree. When I was young (ominous precursor to long lecture about the good old days) police officers were respectful, polite, smartly dressed and correct in behaviour. Now, it seems to me they are little more than scruffy thugs. I have no doubt that there are many good eggs.....I just haven't met them. Growing up, we had a local bobby, who knew all the kids by name and would tick you off for naughty behaviour, with threats to tell your father. Once, when my teenage sister, alone in the house, was disturbed by OUR resident ghost, she ran outside to find him, he came and searched the entire place, and sat downstairs until she fell asleep. Then let himself out. This was London, in the early 60s. Can you imagine it now?

I live in Fairfax, VA, in the 'burbs of DC. There was a lot of heavy fighting during the Civil War throughout Northern Virginia. I live less than 10 miles from DC. I sometimes wonder just what is directly under my feet. I'm sure laying of the infrastructure and the over-building here has unearthed a lot of gruesome remains.

Hello Adam and thank you for commenting. I think wherever you have the remains of battles, disease, even ancient graves below ground, building on top might well affect these souls. Especially with the sheer volume of development happening in our cities today!

@@ghostcasebook1266 I've felt that way for years. I keenly feel the past whenever I am at an historic site.
We also have a 'Gallows Road' here. I've determined that where the gallows once was is now the site of a huge mall. I won't go there. Since I did my research, it's just too creepy.
Another site was a Confederate encampment. There's now a high rise apt building there.
At another spot nearby, Lincoln himself once deployed 50,000 Union troops.
This area at one point was mostly farmland. I've seen some early photos.
I grew up in nearby Manassas, which was the site of two major battles. (Bull Run) It was also the site of a stragetic rail junction.
I left there years ago and have been told there has been the site of major urban sprawl since I left. It was still fairly rural when I lived there 30 plus years ago.
