Aahh.. goes down like butter. Rick Latham is one of the few drummers who can groove by just tapping their pinkie. Nice.
I remember my uncle invited Rick lathem over for dinner one time and he was playing the drums for us in my uncle's little studio, I still have a mounted remo snare skin signed and of course a pair of his promark sticks which have the best shoulder on em just fyi 💯 what a cool person and such a nice guy I'll never forget it 😊

i dig how rick takes a very common groove and embellishes it with such wonderfully orchestrated rhythmic ornamentation. a master drummer.

@Aeader it looks to me like its a series of diddles starting on the hi hat on the off beat and it carries over to the snare with his left hand...that may not be the most effective way of explaining it, but i hope itll paint the right picture for you

what kind of istanbul ride is he using?
What kind of Hi-Hat do you have?
it just looks like inverted doubles, but almost played as ghost notes, and very clean (as rick can do). The right hand obviously on the hi-hat, with the left hand softly on the snare, with the basic rudimental sticking being:
r l l r r l l r
If you try this, you just have to figure out how to get back to the groove, but I think this is the basic concept.
