Ever dreamed of trading your daily grind for a life on the road? Imagine swapping your morning commute for a breathtaking sunrise over the Grand Canyon, or your cubicle for a secluded beach. This week, we're joined by Kellie and Cody, a couple who've done just that. They've taken the leap into a nomadic lifestyle, transforming a truck camper into their cozy mobile home.
    / @codyandkellie
    / codyandkellie
Kellie and Cody generously share the highs and lows of their journey with us, from the awe-inspiring wildlife encounters to the challenges of finding safe places to stay. We also dig into the profound shift in mindset required when transitioning to a minimalist, travel-focused lifestyle. We learn how they've distanced themselves from materialistic impulses and redefined their understanding of success. But it's not all about the philosophical - we also dive into the practicalities of staying fit on the road, the trials of having a dog along for the ride, and the financial realities of nomadic living.
In this episode, we also open up about our own plans to hit the road with our dog in our truck camper, and how these conversations have inspired us. There's plenty of light-hearted chat too, as we swap travel tales and plans with our guests. So, whether you're flirting with the idea of a nomadic lifestyle, curious about RV living, or just love a good travel yarn, this episode is a treasure trove of insights and stories. Come join us for an inspiring journey into the world of nomadic living!

Such a silly comment about YT channels saving civilisation. You can't possibly be that ignorant, surely. Civilisation is not going to be saved, which is your first major fallacy. He who created us and Civilisation has clearly stated it is finite . Mankind only has a set time on this earth before the Creator pulls the plug on it all. The only part of all of this that has an eternity is the spirit within each human being. And the price has already been paid for that . Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God has died and been resurrected as the ONĹY PRICE paid for the separation from God that comes from the adamic and our individual sins. Living cleaner better lives on earth WITHOUT CHRISTS SALVATION, is a pointless exercise. Gods love & forgiveness is required for every human being to be saved from our inherent sin, and sin iß what separates us all from our Creator, the Creator of all the majestic beauty Shawn lives in and travels thru with his wife , capturing on video and photos to share with us all. Understanding the reason behind it all is the greatest joy . Knowing we can do nothing to redeem ourselves and that this worldly existence is merely a foretaste of what is to come fir eternity. Those who refuse to be saved from their sinful state and action, and therefore miss out on being BORN AGAIN into a spiritual relationship with God will ,upon dying , once passing thru the judgement of God will be cast into eternal damnation a solitary spiritual existence of living separated from God ,which is spiritual torment without words to describe such pain and finally will be cast into hell with lucifer and the original demons cast out of Heaven for assuming to be like God. Such evil arrogance & disobediance will see all who are of this ilk cast out with murderers, homosexuals, paedophiles, liars, d3ceivers, where's etc all are as one in Gods eyes ,for they All TEFUSED to accept the price paid for their sin and refused to be children of God their Father. Instead they belong to their father Satan aka Lucifer, baal , the devil, the gods of all manmade religions .... they're all anti CHRIST , anti GOD .

How do people that dont have a YT channel (or remote work) making thousands a month live a lifestyle like this? That kind of content is already pretty saturated, so new people breaking in is highly unlikely. Considering insurance, gas, constant maintenance costs, heating fuel, food, whatever nest egg one has will deplete extremely fast without an income while living like this.

So good to hear honest talk about the quality of food compromises that arise. Nothing more important than improving your health. Healthier choices improve the quality of life. Minimalism removing clutter from your life is analogous to healthier choices removing so much garbage from your body.

We have followed both of your channels as well as Dome Life/Cody & Kellie for quite a while now. It was a surprise to see them on your channel and did a double-take when I saw their thumbnail pic on your channel. It's interesting that we all must have something in common -- curiosity to learn about and from others and the quest for a simpler life, doing things back to nature, camping, healthy eating/cooking, and a little wanderlust. We love how you all are real -- just real people living your lives with no pretense; you seem to be who you are both on the channel(s) and not. We strive for the same in our own lives. My husband and I have been in business together 24/7 since 2008, married since 1992. He is now "retired," and we have grown closer over the years, too, through adversity and whatever else life throws our way. We are a team and it's refreshing to know of others living likewise. Thank you for your content and please say hello to Cali for us!

Wow Shawn I'm loving this blog your doing. That was so interesting to hear their story on how their living on the road in the truck and camper.
And I was so nice to hear how you and your wife are so close and what she does to do her part in yalls lifestyle. With her not being a part of your channels it's bard for all of us to know much about her and what roles she plays in the life yall have chosen. So it was nice to hear about the love and respect you Two have for eachother.
Body & Kelly are very interesting but I was hoping you would ask them if kids were a part of their future or they going it alone without having children.
Every little thing yall talked about was so interesting and ii really enjoyed it all. Thanks so much for sharing that with us.
It's actually got me thinking about the truck and truck camper like they and yall have done. I would be totally starting from scratch and would have to learn everything about that type of living like they and yall are doing but I just feel stuck here at home in NC, USA, and that would get me out to see alot of the country that I've always wanted to see. Being 63 and having health issues may not allow it o happen but I feel like if I change my eating habits that will help with my health issues and totally Change everything in my life. I've got alot of thinking to do for sure.
Thanks again Shawn Kelly and Cody.
I will be subscribing to their channels too.

It was awesome learning about where you came from, where you are and ya, who knows where you are going and that is so cool! Best part is when Cody's eyes were wide open at the price of Vans. So neat to know that Kellie took the time to research about trucks & campers ;)

I've followed from the start and welcome your diversification on living. My wife and I have always worked and in our off time explored the roads from San Antonio to Calgary, Maine, Ontario and so much more. Life on the road is fun, exilerating and so memorable. Most importantly, we've spent 15 years doing this while tending to 6 kids and fitting in road time. I still don't know as much as I feel I should but enjoy learning something new every day. Looking forward to seeing what's coming. Reach out if you wish. Take care

I also watch rv-ers: Nomadic sarah, Creativity rv, Brooke and pippa. They are all full of boondocking, tips. Harvest hosts, many info tips on traveling off main highways, safe travels, many techno power etc.
Now Im confused bout you. You build a cabin to live in, show vids from a room not at cabin, now you talk bout leaving all to go travel. Im loving your freedom. Theres many more affordable vehicles that would be roomier than a camper van with a big dog. Stay interesting and God bless.

Shawn: I can see the anticipation on your face
when you talked to this couple about their nom-
adic life! Cody is absolutely right about the
cost of the eatern seaboard living vs the wild
west being very costly! Boondocking in the
Arizona desert around Quartside etc. helps
the budget go further! We travelled from BC
to my husband's home province, Quebec,
and then made a circle down to Florida, across
to Texas,Arizona and then back up the west coast!
We don't regret a moment of our five month's on
the road and loved touring the larger cities such
    as Boston,Charelston(James Island campground❤)
San Antonio,Texas was a gem with the riverwalk
and the Alamo! The most important learning plus
was meeting all the wonderful people who gave us
so much pleasure and friendship! You just have to
keep your self open to new experiences andplaces!
One thing, limit the belongings that you take! We
wanted to do so much-biking,golfing anddining out,
that we took too much stuff! Pare down and enjoy
the simple things! Have fun and KISS❤ Hi from
    BC,Sandy&Andy

I really liked this episode. I don't follow this channel as much as your other channel. This podcast really hit home in terms of assessing my life. My wife and I worked for the same employer for years, sometimes almost next to each other. There was frequently the need to readjust when we got home because we already knew how each other's day had gone. Both you, your wife, and Cody and Kelly sound an awful lot like how our marriage went. I'd like to think that we complemented each other inspite of our different interests.

When my wife and I were coming to the end of our working career, Our finical manager suggested we go ahead and build our retirement home on property we had bought for that purpose. Once the house was built, we decided to sell our house of 28 years and move into our 28 foot camper at a RV park. My coworkers gave us 1 year before we would move into a apartment. We were there for 5 years. Those 5 years brought us closer together. You don't have room in a camper to argue!
The biggest thing that everyone has their own space in your camper. My wife's space was the sofa. My space was the dinette. It worked out!

Thank you introducing Cody and Kellie youtube channel. I love off grid living and we have a Truck that tows a 19ft caravan and we use propane gas for cooking and have showers as have a Joolca shower tent and shower and the tub is our dishwasher as has a dryer with it to. Easy to.pack up and easy to store away. In Australia not allowed to hunt and Australia has a no gun law. So we budget a food shop and insurance and other bills that might come in as being homeless still have bills and we both own 2 Trucks or vehicles. For back up i can go food shopping and get one vehicle in the workshop and still have a truck to go places. And swap over to the other truck if that one needs attention. We budget alot and make up pre planning meals for 2 people. Fur babies on that budget to for veterinary attention and there food. And toys. Love off grid living. So much. Have solar for lights and charging up mobile phones as need phones if one of us needs a hospital . Or anykind emergency. Tight budget but love being homeless and off grid living. ❤😊 God may bless you 🙏 I love your channel and so inspirational ❤️ 😊

Stock it up , to go , clean it out when home etc.. The truck ate all the gas you good feed it.

what do these young folks do about health care ? For me that would be first and foremost the most important thing . Purchasing a good plan costs a small fortune here in the states . I am 70 years old , on Medicare AND am a military Veteran and am slowly going broke trying to pay medical costs keeping in mind that our insurance plans including Medicare do not consider eyesight , hearing loss or dental problems as a health issue ! all this must be purchased separately in addition to paying for Medicare out of a large chunk of your social security check which in most cases isn't large to start with . All of this after my wife and I have collectively worked steady for 90 years combined . But there are many here in the United States that have better health care than I do never having worked a day in their life or served a day in the military . One other reason why there is so much civil unrest in our country .....

I’d love to know about how much all of your equipment, tools, vehicles, etc, cost. It all came from the ‘grid’. No?

I don't plan on doing CZcams it just takes too much time and that's not why I retired. I want to enjoy my nomad life and don't care about the money anymore. Shawn is a millionaire so he's lucky to be able to do anything he wants. Most of us are not able to do this and make money. It would be best if you always planned on making it on your retirement income and nothing extra.

Besides yourself we also follow Kellie and Cody. We also enjoy a variety of people to follow. We sold are camper this year and went back to a 5th wheel as with 3 dogs it was cramped. Being evacuated with fires in BC was the reason we did.😊

I'll admit, I'm originally from Baton Rouge, La. & started driving at 14 in the city, until I was 19. This was back in late 70's early 80's. Traffic then was not a problem. But, my adventures took me to San Diego, CA. in 83' & the traffic was so different. I mean, maybe I thought ppl just didn't have driving skills , but it was a whole different animal w/ 6 lanes on each side & packed like sardines in a can.
I couldn't understand how ppl lived that way all their lives. I noticed , if you didn't take chances , being firm about moving in & out of spaces , you might politely strand yourself for long periods of time letting ppl geaux in front of you.
I traveled for my job so renting cars in Manhattan, NY. was an adventure. I'd put 2 wheel on the curb to make a turn in stopped traffic to an empty cross street or I'd be waiting for ever.
I finally retired and moved back to Louisiana ..... but , in a very rural , less than 5000 ppl town and away from the town 12 miles to the country.
I have a cousin that lives in the S.W. part of Houston, TX. and you can bet Cody is honestly SPOT ON !! Houston, TX. is one of the most frustrating cities to drive in the States. All of the west coast. All of New England, but besides the traffic , it's the toll roads there as well.
On the other hand, Atlanta, GA. has lots of traffic and lanes, but everyone seems to drive 10 miles over the speed limit and in unison. It actually flows smoothly. At least in my 20 yrs in and out of there for my job. That was up until 2006 b'c the last 5 yrs of my career was in Las Vegas. Not a bad town to drive in for the most part if you bypass the main run through town on the interstate 15. I guess Dallas, TX. has loops that can bypass the main city but they get quite congested as well during peak hours.
If you have the time, it's best to use back roads everywhere and w/ GPS, it's feasible, plus you get to see the beauty of the country and meat the salt of the earth.
    Sorry bout' the book,
    P. S. What does he mean by "returning home" between adventures if they've sold their house ??
Love your channel now for 4 or 5 yrs,
    Sincerely ..................
    God bless !!

I’m sure even Shawn made most of his money before he started living like this. Once you have lots of money it becomes way easier to go off grid. I mean imagine if everyone lived like this, we would have no medical system, cars, food, tools. Going back to stone age

in the PNW, you were too close to their illegal weed farm or they were worried that you'd set up a homeless camp. both common enough.
