    How do you practice this?

    • @Walnutpaste
      @Walnutpaste Před 3 lety +17

      before you start practicing the piece, try warming up with czerny etudes and other exercises to build up your technique. then expect to practice many more hours than you normally would and pay very fine attention to every detail and play so slowly that the piece is barely recognisable. remember, 1 hour of strong attention to the music is better than 5 hours of fucking around.

    • @louisehollyhead6807
      @louisehollyhead6807 Před 2 lety +8

      Having played this and the other transcendentals I would say skip the czerny. No need to learn exercises which teach you just to play exercises. Build technique through pieces always. You need a certain level of playing under your belt to attempt this and even so parts of it are treacherous. Learning some of the chopin etudes before these are useful but working on anything that requires dexterity eg bach, mozart, beethoven etc all useful. Learn some of the other transcendentals like chasse-neige / ricordanza first to get the feeling of the liszt leggerio technique required as a similar lightness of touch and dexterity is required in those. They're hard but this is even harder. Lots of slow practice required but always ensure movements you make slowly are the same as what you will do when playing at tempo. Sometimes it is even best to exaggerate those movements.

    The beginning is even very difficult. What is this psychedelic scale that is so confusing? It took me two days to figure it out. It's psychedelic. Then there's this quick trick with the hands to reach such speed. It takes 13 years on the piano, and of course you have to practice not to talk about huge hands that need to be cut off after a long time. Aggresby and hard after that it's a completely different story where the real difficulty starts with a piece whose name I already raised my hands it completely blew my mind
