30:00 it's a "may" so you can refuse to gain when you cast your 1 colour spell, and then cast a multicolour spell to gain more life that turn

Are you sure about that? Because it reads like it triggers once regardless if you take the life or not.

40:03 It hurt me so much to see Seth crack that clue empty-handed when during that match he even pointed out he could copy clues with Worldwalker's Helm to draw more cards.
He also could've started copying his incubator token earlier in that game and beat down his opponent.

Cornucopia is optional because you might be planning on playing a card with extra colors not as your first card, so you can maximize corning.
Note the wording is "do this only once each turn" rather than "this ability triggers only once per turn". That's necessary to make this work mechanically, and that's the hint for why it's a may

At 1:05:18 you could have saved Jin with No More Lies. Your opponent had 4 mana left after using Flashback, and Jin would copy your No More Lies. 3+3 > 4
He definitely constantly forgot that jin copies his spells since he seemed surprised every single time it happened.

It's probably a May ability so that you can skip your 1-color life gain if you know you're going to be casting a multiple-color spell later in the turn

This is essential to the new builds of Pioneer Niv to Light that use Cornucopia. They cast Bring to Light for Niv, declining the first Cornucopia trigger so that they gain 5 life off Niv instead of 2 life off Bring to Light.
I was wondering why he used it when he was going to cast a 2-color spell afterwards, then he started asking why it was a may ability and realized he didn't even see the line.

My friend has a changing shift every 2 days(early, late, night, and free)
My father had to drive trucks at 3am
My brother loaded trucks before that(same company)
My uncle has to prep the load-outs for the trucks(back to earrly shift)
TL;DR: Just caause you have a certain timeframe doesnt mean that others follow it too

- Virtuoso (don't see much, but, omg is it annoying. Everyone who plays it takes for ever on each single conive decision, and everyone has a protection spell up holding priority all the time)

Hey seth: The reason cornucopia is a may is because it triggers only once each turn, and you might want to cast a mono color spell, then cast a multicolor spell and have the additional life gain from the multicolor spell
No lie, I always use Seth streams to fall asleep. They’re the perfect blend of engaging enough to hold your attention and low-agency enough to not excite you. If you sleep alone and you’ve never tried it, give it a shot!

The fact you may choose which spell will be the one you use during your turn to gain life makes it much better.
Cornucopia is an amazing card in lifegain turbofog decks. When I first saw it, I put it into my Angus Mackenzie deck and it fit PERFECTLY.
Seth, your boldness to play the grindy decks is much appreciated.
I'm a little surprised that this deck doesn't run 2 or 3 Simulacrum Synthesizers, especially since Seth has liked it so much in other decks. I feel like Synthesizer would be a perfect finisher. Unless I'm mistaken, the token copies of Cornucopia and Worldwalker's Helm keep their mana cost, so every token copy made of them would also make a Karnstruct. If you make your tokens on the end of your opponent's turn, you can dodge any board wipes before you get a chance to attack. I might try to make this and swap the Jins for Synthesizers.
Run Dopplegang as well, since the gameplan involves excessive mana and copying, eventually you can X Dopplegang for like... I'd say probably like, 5, dump 25 Corn copies, and have your recovery explode
But if we have Synthesizer we might actually kill someone.
Endless detour is really cool, because two copies of it makes it a win condition.
The first can always target the other in the graveyard. And with enough life gain from the cornucopias, you can outlast most decks.
Seems like a good list for Dopplegang.
Forensic gadgeteer +this combo. Mana reduction means each turn you will effectively add as many helms as u have blue mana which in turn generates an equal number of cornucopia on the next turn allowing you to double your totals every other turn of yours (or every turn if you have the untap emblem)
Hey saffron olive just wanted to say I loved the video and also I have a cool deck which I think you will like. If you remember your lae'zels acrobatics deck the deck I have here is very similar but uses a card called another round instead of lae;zels acrobatics and is also for pioneer. Tweak the deck to your liking but I would love to see how it would do against the decks currently meta have fun!

I rewatched some of the old against the odds videos and realized that most of my favourites were +90 minutes. I'm not complaining because I know that it makes sense from a content perspective to make shorter videos, but I'm very grateful for this longer video. Thanks Seth.

My favorite control deck in standard is just 4x cornucopia, 4x three steps ahead, 4x intimidation campaign. Everything else removal/counters/hearse/etc. It doesn't go as 'infinite', but even just somewhere 1-8 total cornucopias is plenty when you gain a reliable 3+ life per cornucopia per turn. There's a point at which lifegain outpaces most every deck's ability to deal damage (especially through 20+ pieces of interaction), and you don't really gain anything beyond that but meme potential. When I end a game with 100 life I feel pretty good

This deck DESPEREATELY needs a proper win condition. There's options but I like the idea of splashing red for Meria, Scholar of antiquity: You can turn all the map tokens into mana / impulse draw and dig for a copy of like, WorldSoul's Rage or some big X spell and just win the game already
I think Doppelgang would be perfect in this deck
At first I was questioning the choice of Cornucopia to use with this synergy, of all things - but being a mana rock that gains life is huge, as the mana rock side of things makes the Helm activation cost pseudo-1, and the lifegain does give the mana rock a wincon within itself.
Honestly, pretty solid choice all around.
This is a deck that gains you a cornu-copious amount of life.

I know this is a three colour deck, but I really think it would benefit from a copy or two of Fomori Vault. Once you start making copies and maps it basically tutors for cards.
This deck is actually amazing in Ranked, I made a few changes by adding Wondering Emperor, a couple more of removals, counter spells, I removed Jin and Teferi, and obviously... added Doppelgang! Good control deck

Seth, in pioneer Cornucopias may ability is very relevant in niv to light, since bring to light casts what you grab it triggers Cornucopia, you decline to gain 2 off of bring to light and gain 4, or 5 off of omnath or niv mizzet
Just out of curiosity how much actual playtesting do you do before recording? I know this is casual play but it seems that you always seem to do the thing but don't want to win. Even a control deck seems to have more win conditions than this deck.

Cornucopia is a may ability because you can only do it once each turn - so if you cast a 1c spell, and then follow up with a 3c spell, you can decline the first life gain to instead gain from the second spell!

If I remember correctly, there's an old card called "Lich", that basically transforms taking damage into discarding cards and life gain into drawing cards.
Maybe there's more effects like that?

The reason that it is a may is so that you can cast your 1 or 2 color spells in the turn without gaining life before casting the 4 color / 5 color spell that you do want to gain life on.

A couple of weeks ago, Seth was all in on the Dopplegang plan. With the mana this deck can generate, casting a Dopplegang for 3 or 4--even as much as 6--is easily possible. For a decent finishing move, how about White Sun's Twilight for x = a heck of a lot? Once all other creatures are gone, enough 1/1s with toxic 1 should remain to end the game the next turn. Incidentally, this is probably the deck that would get you banned from playing it at your LGS. edit a day later: no Void Rend? It's a 3-color, instant-speed, uncounterable, destroy target nonland permanent--seems like a great addition since this deck has so much mana in any color.
You might as well have added an aetherflux reservoir as a life payoff. There’s also a moon folk Druid who grows and scrys whenever you gain life

1:12:27 If you put a Three Steps Ahead on top of your deck to draw in response to something the opponent does so you can counter it, that's more like Five Steps Ahead.
I think it's not a problem that they made it a may ability. The problem is Arena not having a way to say "always yes" to a may ability.
Changing the cards from may to must is the lazy solution.
Yeah, if Arena had the "always yes" option like MTGO it would solve the problem.
Imho they should add an option to say "always yes" until end of turn, if the same effect triggers two or more times!

I glanced at this title and thought that + sign was a 4 and was shocked and impressed that goldfish would make a 24 hour life gain video.
My guess is that Cornucopia is a "may" because there are situations where you want to sequence a monocolor spell before a multicolor spell on the same turn, and it would feel kinda bad to miss out on the full lifegain. Maybe not worth the hassle though!

I'm curious but would an Ezrim, agency chief be good as maybe a one of? It is a clock that has flying, can get vigilance so can be a blocker and get hexproof while also using excess maps.
Tough cookie could also be an option turning the maps into 4/4's

Seth in the first game you had 1 more turn after the helm because you can use endless detour to get back sunfall from your graveyard.
I wonder if there's a way to fit cards like Amalia or Voice of the Blessed in here just as some potential win conditions. Not particularly great draws early though (esp since you're probably relying on Cornucopia for black).
I feel like it might be worth throwing in a Worldsoul's Rage, Light up the Night, Shivan Devastator, and/or Goldvein Hydra.
